Hello all,
I'm an MS2 with an interest in oncology. First, this forum has been very helpful, and I would like to thank everyone for their contributions. I have searched the forum about this topic, but I am still a bit unclear about some aspects of the PGY-1 year.
First, are the terms "PGY-1 year" and "transitional year" synonymous?
Next, is it possible to spend your PGY-1 year doing research? If so, what programs are designed for this? Would the NIH Clinical Research Training Program be an example of such a program? What about HHMI? If research is not an acceptable way to spend your transitional year, are their any times during training where one might dedicate 12 months to research?
Thanks!
