Besides location, what is a good way to pick residencies to apply to? I looked on FREIDA, but it's still hard for me to figure out what the differences are. In California alone, there are over 30 residencies. I'm also open to either California or the East Coast...so narrowing down is really difficult. How do I know which residencies are more competitive? I don't hear much about the East Coast programs.

Some of the best sources of info on programs can be the FM faculty at your school, and the 4th years from your school who just matched.
