Who else is interviewing this Tuesday? Any suggestions from past interviewees on how the day went?

I interviewed earlier this week. They are really helpful so don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions. Eat a big breakfast cause you eat after the interview and I got really hungry! Lol. Panel interview with 3 interviewers to 4 or 5 interviewees. I couldn't believe how un-stinky the anatomy lab was!

I remember that from when I toured the campus. Beautiful lab. Seems like a great school! Thanks! Oh, and good luck!

Relax and have fun! It's not too bad.

I think one of my interviewers was attempting to play the "bad cop", because he would check his cell phone for texts while you were responding to his questions. Don't let it phase you, it's just to see how you react under pressure IMO.

Good luck 👍

Thanks. Good luck to you too! Btw, if you're interviewing 3/15, you should get their decision by 3/18 if you sign up for email notification. They decide in two week intervals and they happen to be meeting again Thursday the 17th. I guess that means you should be prepared to make a decision soon if accepted!

Wow, so soon! Thanks for the tip! Do they give you a couple weeks to decide if and when you are accepted? I assume you sign up for email notification the day of the interview?

Question for Touro students or recently admitted students: Does TUCOM allow you to defer enrollment for a year? I can't find information on their website.

you can defer your acceptance a year. contact the office of admissions for more information.

Just gave up my spot here! Good luck to everyone who is still interviewing or on the waitlist!!! This is a great school!

Hi Allison,
I was wondering if your allowed to deviate from your region at all to do a visiting/trial rotations? I'm a non-traditional student and I'd like to do rotations at my former universities/hospitals that have teaching programs.
If you set them up will the school allow it? Thanks for your help!

current rotation spots include california (long beach, colton, chino hills, santa maria, santa rosa, vacaville/fairfield, turlock, salinas, fresno, bakersfield, the bay area), michigan (outskirts of detroit), new york, oregon, colorado and pennsylvania. exemptions are considered in cases where it would significantly decrease any burdens if the student were placed at a specific stie (which is why your class will vote depending on your personal circumstances (should you apply for an exemption)). many people will get their desired location if they apply for an exemption and even those who do the lottery system will get their 1st or 2nd choice (with only a few receiving their 3rd choice or other). touro is currently working to have the majority (if not all) of their rotations in california. as you can tell from above, that is not difficult seeing how the majority of sites already exist in california. from the students ahead of me, they are loving rotations, so i can only assume they are going well. the situation is dynamic and is making changes periodically to better sites/programs while still offering options to students.

you can set up your own electives (you've got 4 elective/vacations in your 3rd year), but they must meet a set of requirements for the touro to recognize it (as i understand). i think it'll be more appropriate to deal with this as the time nears.

Heyo
Is anyone else interviewing on 3/21? Just got last minute invite, nervous/excited!

Received the good news from Dr. Haight approximately 4:30pm EST! Interviewed on 3/8/11.

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear!

Placed on the high waitlist today. Anyone have any insight as to how much movement there is off waitlists for TUCOM?

Congratulations! I think I interviewed on the same day as you. I'll see you in Vallejo.

Just got accepted too! Congrats everyone on your acceptances and keep your heads up if you're on the wait lists!

Does anyone know where i can get my hands on a match list for the 2011 class?

I think about half of the accepted people end up going so there's a good chance for you! I just got accepted! Good luck and Congrats everyone!

You were accepted off the waitlist? If so, that's awesome. I am high on the waitlist, but was really hoping for a definitive yes. I guess the wait must continue. Someone send me some hopeful news!

No I wasn't on the waitlist, but that was what I remembered dr haight saying. Good luck!

Congrats everybody! For those of you on the waitlist, keep your head up!

Hey,
So I had a question for anyone who did the MS program and then applied and was accepted into the DO program. Did you apply to the program during your MS program or did you wait till after you graduate to have both semester's grades to improve your application GPAs? I'm just considering this as an option and am trying to figure out timing. Also, when in all this did you take your final MCAT?

Hey everyone,
I'm interviewing on March 29th, anybody else interviewing on that date?

Just curious for those of you that have interviewed do you know if Touro requires you to complete a writing exercise after you interview? I read that some schools do this. Thanks in advance for your help and good luck to everyone!

No writing exercise!

is there a cutoff mcat score?

This is from the FAQ:

For the best possible chances, applicants should have Cumulative and Science GPA's of 3.0 or greater with a composite MCAT score of 23 or greater. Numbers are not everything, however, and on a case by case basis, the Committee may consider applicants who fall beneath these numbers.

Hey guys,

I have received an interview invite and I was hoping to get an opinion if I should take the first available date if it is next Monday? The problem is I am flying from NY and the flight tickets are quite expensive for next week. Would I play with my chances if I were to hypothetically fly in the week after? ..considering it is really late in the cycle already..

at this point, i don't think it would make a significant difference if you waited a week. both the week of april 4th and the week of april 11th are in the same decision cycle period, so you would find out the results on the same day for either date. i hope that makes some sense. good luck!

Thank you for the response! Yeah, I noticed that 3/17 was the decision day which makes 3/31 the decision day for people who have interviewed in the past 2 weeks...which means I'll be waiting for 4/14 either way. It's really good to get your input though...thanks again!

I will be there... I need to scope out my competition. 😀

Hi, I got recently accepted (last month) and was wondering if they send out an acceptance packet containing FinAid info and such... seems like a while now if they do lol

Congrats 🙂

IIRC a packet containing financial aid info was handed out during the interview day. Besides the acceptance letter, I don't think I've received anything else in the mail from the school.

Thanks for the quick response Sinfest. 😀

I just got an interview invite for TUCOM-CA. I know this is very late in the application cycle, but does anyone know the current situation with class size/wait-list? (i.e. Am I being interviewed for wait-listed position?)

Also, how does TUCOM-CA compare to AZCOM or Western (overall/subjective/etc.) ?

I'm in same situation as Dyingduck. Someone update us with the number of seats left in the class, so I can know whether it is worth the trip out to sf.

Also, how does touro-ca compare to unecom?

Dr. Haight stressed during my interview that Touro-CA never interviews just for waitlist positions.

I found the tucom-ca match list for 2010, can anyone link me to at the 2009 and 2008 match lists so I can get a better picture of where I'll potentially match if I matriculate here

Can anyone give me some insight on the potential movement off the "high" wait-list for TUCOM? Are there any current students who were admitted off the high wait-list, and when?

there is potential for moving from high wait list to accept. unfortunately, this won't occur until the interview cycle is over. Touro doesn't interview applicants for waitlist positions, so as long as interviews are going on, there are still open slots. sending a letter of intent to the office of admissions and updating to your file doesn't hurt. keep your spirits up!
