Hello skiier212-
Congrats! Let me address your question, and "thegreatest"'s comments at the same time.
I also interviewed at TUCOM and LECOM. I felt that the interview at LECOM was somewhat of a cattle call. -which I'm guessing is what going to school there is like since their class size is about 4X the size of TUCOM-CA. They didn't ask any applicants specific questions about their application, which is understandable when you are interviewing about 60 students at once. I thought the interview questions were great because they at least put the effort in to do a thorough review of your file and ask you personalized questions instead of "how you you feel about the health care reforms?".
Touro-CA is not a real gem when it comes to the campus, but it is far from "prison" looking. Yes, the buildings are old because they are old military buildings, but the insides are nice, the anatomy lab is large and not smelly, and you have a beautiful lawn to relax on as well as great views of San Pablo Bay in almost all directions. Vallejo is a more industrial area of Northern California, but its probably as, if not less industrial than Erie, PA. Additionally, if you really despise it there for some reason..... its easy to commute from San Francisco. - also, your only there for two years. The second two years are spent spread out in some of the best areas of Northern and Southern CA such as: San Diego, Napa, Long Beach, and San Francisco to name a few.
MPH "pushing" -As someone who has this "worthless" degree I'd say it's done me pretty well. Yes, you can get this degree online, but you can also get a PhD online these days, and I think the key is if an employer see's it's from an online college, they probably won't view it as favorable. They are definitely encouraging this, and I would encourage any fellow student to go for it! It really just allows you to have more flexibility and potentially make more money in the long run. If you ever decide you want to do research, you will have the skills. If you decide you want to teach, universities are more likely to hire you. -and if you ever work at a university, government, or military center, they will have likely pay you more because you have an additional advanced degree.
I choose TUCOM-CA because of its great location in the bay area, small class size, good match list, good clinical locations/rotations, and curriculum.
Good luck! Hope I've been helpful! 🙂
