TUCOM-CA
PROS:
PROS:
PROS:
- location- easy drive home (3-3.5 hours), close to Oakland, Napa, SF so lots to do and also cost of living seems relatively affordable for Bay Area
- small class size and faculty seem attentive/receptive to changes
- anatomy lab really nice, well-ventilated
- lectures are recorded and they recently switched to pass/fail system
- could apply for federal loans and overall cheaper tuition which is fixed
- frequent changes in the curriculum, not sure if good/bad but they recently changed to P/F so that’s good
- on-campus gym is not great but supposedly they are building new gym site
PROS:
- local family support system
- Hololens anatomy is very cool and they will have brand new facility
- I like the idea of being able to shape the class and development of the school
- possible greater personal attention and support given new school, faculty will expend greater effort to validate their curricular preparation
- pre-accreditation phase, have some concerns about being in inaugural class
- not eligible for federal loans and tuition is expected to increase by ~$2k each year
- graded system not pass/fail, may contribute to more competitive environment/stress about grades
