Hey everyone...

This post has two purposes...

The first is to congratulate those who have been accepted into Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Class of 2008...

So with no further adue, please help me in congratulating Fullservice98, Elysium, racystacey07, Zach, and Colleen... Good job guys and I will see you soon!

I know I am missing some people, specifically those who have been accepted via the Early Decision Program... if you have recently accepted an offer to attend Touro, please post you name with pride!

The other purpose of this post is to advertise the yahoo group that I created for my classmates; a population that should be growing shortly since interviews at Touro will be in full swing come the end of this month... so please click here or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/touro2008/ to join the party...

That's it for now guys, and I hope this thread stays near the top of the forum as my class continues to grow...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Brian Enriquez
TUCOM '08

Hello everyone! My name is Kristin and I'll be attending Touro next year as well. I interviewed EDP and was accpeted a few days ago! Good luck to those of you who still have interviews and try to relax, it's a really laid back interview. Congrats to the ones who have already been accepted. Can't wait to meet you all!

Kristin Collins

I have a quick question...how much did it cost to hold a spot at Touro once accepted?
I heard it was $2000...

Hey future classmates. My name is Sharon. I was accepted last year and deferred so I will be seeing you all a year from now. Hey Brian, I'm a UCD alum too. I remember your posts from the frantic days of applying last year and wanted to say CONGRATS on getting in! You made it man! Can't wait to get to know you all better!

Greetings future classmates. My name is Zach. I interviewed last year and after spending all summer as a "High Alternate" wondering exactly what that meant was rather dam thrilled at the offer to join the class of 2008.

To answer damtexan's question at TUCOM once you are offered a seat in the class you have two weeks to mail in a check for $2000.00 to hold your seat. That money is then applied to your first year tution.

Did anybody read the article about TUCOM-Las Vagas branch campus, scheduled to open next fall? Would any of you already in the class of 2008 want to go to a potential Las Vagas campus?

Don't forget to check out the Yahoo group that Brian set up (see his email above for a link) and join!

That's all for now!
-Zach

$2000 for deposit but also another $1000 tuition deposit sometime in late April. Of course you get all this back/deducted from you first semester's tuition so financial aid in August is a welcome thing. Sean.

Hey guys...

I know Touro has been interviewing for the past couple weeks, so I just wanted to bump up this thread to see if I have any new classmates out there...

Also, I will be having dinner tonight in Vallejo with a couple people that are interviewing in the morning... if you are in the area and want to join, please just email me!!

I just wanted to let all you potential TUCOM interviewees that Brian (ez073323) is an excellent resource for info about the school, getting around the Bay Area, organizing dinners (epesically at Outback...until the damn waitress steals $80 from you. But I digress). Anyway, there are a lot of super cool people that are/will be going to Touro. It's a great school, with super nice faculty, and a really welcoming enviornment. Please don't hesitate to post any questions about the school, as I'm sure some current/future student will be happy to answer them.

Good luck everyone and can't wait to see ya'll next year!

Tiffany

Now, I must go call someone on the phone at 5am CST.
😉

You're correct, Glorytaker, I was going to attend COMP, but after a lot of thought (and research) I decided that I didn't want to be $200,000+ in debt at a school that I didn't really like all that much (no offense, COMPers). I decided to go to Touro primarily so that I could be in the same class as Brian! 🙄 Seriously, though, I think I'll be happier at Touro. Look forward to meeting you.

Tiffany

Congrats to everyone with acceptances!

My application is complete (got the official card about two weeks ago), but waiting on interview status.

Touro is my first choice school- went to Berkeley and grew up in the bay area, and am now in NYC. I hear nothing but good things about TUCOM, and am really excited about getting back to the bay area to study medicine.

How long did it take for you guys to get your interview invites once your file was complete? And then how long to get acceptances post interview?

The suspense is killing me. Hope to join you all there!

Hey there. Brian- sorry for not getting back to you about dinner tonight. I was in the anatomy lab for three hours tonight, so I couldn't make it.

Everyone: Congrats on your acceptances! I'm a first year at TUCOM, so hopefully, I'll get to be a big sib for one of you next year.

As for the deposit, if I remember correctly, it is $2000 within two weeks of the date of the acceptance letter (not the date you receive it) and then an additional $1000 before May. The upside to this is that it is all put toward your fall tuition, so you can either 1) take out less in loans for your fall semester or 2) get a bigger refund check in your fall semester (which will help in buying all those books and getting settled into school/CA.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Zippy

Elysium...

ummm.. where do I begin?? I thought that once you come to Cali, I was the first person that you would be "looking forward to meet"... I mean, not to sing my own praises, but I won the All-Valley Karate Championships, not once, but twice... I am an accomplished bonsai artist and can break through several sheets of ice after careful meditation... not to offend you, Glorytaker, but I am sure I could snap all your little toys with a single crane kick...

I guess I will go back to waxing, sanding, and painting...

Ralph

Ralph,

Not to worry, you are my only Karate Champion. Plus, you know how I have that thing for Men of Asain Descent. Why do you think I'm going out to the Bay Area? Proximity to Ralph, of course.

🙄

Oh, and you know my obsession with Toy Collections.

😍

Makes me almost as happy as stubbing my toe and bleeding to death in my kitchen at 4:32am CST while talking on the phone to this guy in California.

See you at the Next Karate Championship!

😀

If I were a single woman, Elysium would have fight on her hands... but alas, my heart belongs to another.

I think we may have our first love match of TUCOM c/o 2008...

Listen Zip,

I don't wanna have to go 10 rounds with you in a karate fight, but I will for the love of Ralph. We both know how masterful he is after taking a tequila shot. He's also very persistant. Reno, anyone?

Anyway, don't make me open up a can of Texas style whoop ass.

Love,

E😉

Tucomians-

I am probably going to be going to TUCOM next year. I am from the bay area (Berkeley) and excited about staying in the area.

I was ecstatic to hear that I was accpepted, but I am conflicted because I recieved an acceptance from COMP also, and really liked both schools. Looks like I will be tying up this dilemma in about two weeks though.

I have found at Berkeley that there are definitely attractive Asian guys, but generally don't seem all that interested in the "white honeys". I think I personally might have an issue since I am 6'0'', It's really not a problem anymore, though since I have a significant other- just was a perplexing situation at school.
Congradulations to everyone who got in!

-jbernet1

#1) MHC: Like everything else in the application process, there is a huge range with respect to the time interval between completion of your secondary and the invitation for an interview... I know of people that scored thier interviews within a week of thier secondary being complete while I am on the other end of the spectrum; my secondary was done in July and I didn't get my interivew invite until December... With respect to how long after one's interview does one get results; it can be as long as 2.5-3 weeks, or can be as short as three days...

#2) jbernet1: CONGRATULATIONS! two acceptances so early in the game??? very nice... keep us informed once you make your final decision...

#3) RalphMacchio, Elysium, DrZippy2b, and especially Glorytaker: I started this thread with every intention of it being a nice jumping off point for the new members of the class of 2008 to communicate, introduce, and interact with each other and anyone else who might want to help... all of a sudden it has become platform for two girls to cyberfight over a washed-up 80's movie star (don't get me wrong, Mr. Macchio was great in My Cousin Vinny) and for a guy to tout the "impressiveness" of his Transformer collection... I guess I am just trying to hijack this thread from its current 'dateless and desperate' theme back to a 'congratulations on getting into Touro' theme... but then again, who am I to stop mate-matching potential of the internet...

So congrats again to everyone that has received the thumbs up from my school... I can't wait to meet you all come August and please throw me an email whenever... I am a big fan of celebrating right now because I know we will be in a world of hurt come the beginning of school...

That's it for now...

Brian Enriquez

p.s.
Tiff: I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am of RalphMacchio... I know you said that you "decided to go to Touro primarily so that I could be in the same class as Brian" but then you follow up with, "Why do you think I'm going out to the Bay Area? Proximity to Ralph, of course."... whatever... you know how to get a hold of me if/when Mr. Macchio packs on a few pounds like he did in Karate Kid 3... (wait a second, wasn't I just complaining about this thread having a "dateless and desperate" theme to it, and here I go talking about my jealousy... Am I a hypocrite or what?)

Zippy: Can you please email me with you and Paul and Kenny and Inderpal and whoever elses email addresses and such... As I have been having dinners with interviewees they have been asking for advice from first years and I don't really have a way to relay their questions on to you guys (i.e. a girl asked me about housing and I only have Paul and Bren's email addresses and they both can only advise about on campus housing...)

Listen Bri,

Maybe if you stopped talking to drunk girls at 3am you would understand why I have the feelings I do for Ralph. Listen, he was in Bop magazine, back in the 80's, wearing his blue and white headband. Now that is HOT!

😍

This thread has become a little on the tragic side, but what do all of us recently-dumped-by-a-DVM have to do to get a little love around here? Hmm?

I think future TUCOM students should know just exactly what they're getting into next year.

Namely: hot asain karate champs!

Sup peeps. I've just been accepted to TUCOM and really liked the school when I visited.

Purely for location reasons, I would go to COMP if accepted, but I have to say that TUCOM would be my #1 choice if I lived in the area. I still will have to decide and see if COMP does accept me. Maybe I'll see you guys there next year.

By the way, Brian I saw you at my interview day and thought it was cool how you introduced yourself to us and wished us luck.

congrats slick

Thanks, now on to COMP hopefully...

No, I'm not naive, but is that "really" Ralph from the Karate Kid that was accepted to Touro? Wow! Hollywood to medical school. Cool.

Touro is my first choice school but I'm aiming for their Las Vegas location starting next fall. (It will be offered to all interviewed & accepted starting in December they said). Anyway, I'm very early in the process, just got my MCAT scores & applied. Hope to make this thread as a new student for 2008. 🙂

P.S.

Flirting & dating with future classmates is cool. I certainly hope I get enough sex during med school to ease the stress. 😉

Hey Marianne,

I like your style. I think you would be a great addition to the TUCOM family of fiends.

But, I gotta tell you, Ralph is not really going to be coming to Touro next year. He may or may not be an alter ego of an individual (a mere mortal) that will be attending TUCOM in the Fall of 2004.

And so far there hasn't been any actual sex between the class of 2008 that I'm aware of, but I guess that could all change once we finally get together as a class.

😉

Anyway, hope you get an interview and are able to join the class of 2008.

Thanks! You guys sound way cool. I hope I get in. 🙂

Marianne11,

Elysium got it right when she stated that I will not be attending Touro next year... I apologize if I gave that impression, but I think it would be best that I stick to my acting career...

On the other hand, Elysium got it wrong to hypothesize that I am someone's alter ego... this is not at all the case...

good luck in your quest of getting into school... I hope you are as successful as I was in learning the drum technique of Mr. Miyagi's home village...

Ralph

Ralph,

So you applied, got accepted, then declined? I am returning to LA for pilot season in January. I want to give it one more shot before med school starts. 🙂 You are a great actor, and it would be a shame for you to stop acting. I'm sure you are making the right choice. Thanks for the note! 🙂

Marianne

Hi Everybody,
Congratulation to all of you for acceptance to TUCOM!! I just have one quick question. How do TUCOM determine who should go to the Las Vagas campus and who should stay in Vallejo campus? 😕

Once the Las Vegas campus becomes official, (they said Dec), they will be asking student preference to those admitted, at interviews, etc. I believe it is up to the student until all spaces are filled. 125 in Vallejo, 76 in Vegas.

I haven't talked to Ralph about this directly, but I'm kind of hoping that he and I can do a Vegas show to earn some extra money to pay for that TUCOM tuition. Now that Siegfried and Roy are no longer using that space at the Mirage Ralph and I are free to bring our singing and dancing act (see Studio 54) to the Vegas stages. I suggest all of you accepted Touro folks consider the Vegas campus for that reason alone...

😉

Congrats to all of you who've received acceptances. TUCOM is a great place to be.

Can't wait to see you next fall!

bri- give me a call and i'll give you those addresses. We have a block coming up in two weeks, so i'm not sure if i'll be able to come until after blocks, but i'm in for after blocks. as long as there are drinky-drinks in it for me.

CONGRATS again everyone!

zippy

This is hilarious. Who cares about the Karate Kid. It was the worst movie series in the 90s. I mean a story about a white skinny, 28 year old, kid doing chores for this short chinese guy. If you want to watch a good karate movie you have to watch bruce lee or the early jackie chan movies but please not the Karate Kid.
And to that one girl who actually believes that this Ralph guy is from the karate kid movie, please get a life.
I love coming to these TUCOM threads and making fun of you naive people. Last year it was the transformers now the karate kid. Whats next; how about this He-man, was he gay or straight, discuss.
Well I hope for the guys sake in TUCOM that this Marianne11 chick is hot, I mean I'll feel bad for the guys that have these huge expectations for having sex with a fat ugly easy chick.
Oh yeah, Brian. I remember your constant posts from last year how you will give a kidney to get into TUCOM and everything. Seriously, if they didn't accept you after all of those posts last year they would've been jackasses and the scum of the earth. Congratulations, but I have to say that you getting accepted there was expected. Oh by the way, one of my friends got in last month, I should tell him about this website so that he can talk with you people about how much fun your going to have playing blackjacks and getting broke in vegas next year.
And Elysium, I remember you mentioning last year that you were going to a DO school. Well I could've been mistaking you with this hot chick who was in Brian's website.

Hey gibna, you douche.

Yes, I am the hot girl from Brian's website and I can totally and utterly assure you that you are totally nausating. Why do you give a rat's ass about what marianne looks like? You think a toolbox like you could even have a chance with any woman with a modicum of intelligence? Please, baby. We don't want what you're selling.

And Brian got into Touro because he's ****!ng A smart and is going to be a great doc. Where are you going to med school, genius? Wherever that is (and it ain't Touro) why don't you go pollute that thread and shrivel away and die, K?

Later.

😛

gibna...

Have you ever heard of the saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all..."

Are you proud of yourself now that you bashed me and Elysium and RalphMacchio and Marianne11? I respect most everyone's opinion and stand strong behind my own, but I, nor anyone that I keep close company with, have never valued my/their own opinions so much as to disrespect another...

I have no idea where you are coming from and I can't imagine why you say the things you do... I want to wish you good luck in your endeavors, but because I regard myself as a public servant, in the public's best interest, I hope you find a profession other than medicine to dedicate yourself to... I don't mean to offend, but I, nor anyone I know, would ever want a doctor that is offensive or disrepectful as you... Along the lines of Elysium's call out, I won't challenge you to tell us where you are going to school, so much as I will point out how Elysium and I have no problem relinquishing the "freedom" of anonymity of this website; we have done so because we can stand proud behind our posts, we can walk up to any office of admissions and if they ask, "hey, are you Elysium/ez073323 from studentdoctor.net" we can give a candor backed affirmation... I have been to my school on a couple occasions during interviews and have introduced myself to my future classmates to give them my phone number and email address if they have any questions and many of them have been able to say, "oh, my screenname is XXXX..." Would you be willing to do the same at your interviews?

It all comes down to treating everyone the same way you would want to be treated... for whatever reason, you think you should do otherwise...

Brian Enriquez
[email protected]

p.s.
Elysium,

Thank you so much for defending my honor... If gibna only knew how unbelievable close I was to not getting into Touro...

Geez, you guys got offended for no reason, I never thought the karate kid was that popular. And Brian, I was congratulating you, not insulting you. I was just saying that you were a persistent guy and you deserved to get in. And Ely, I didn't offend you either. Well, I'll try to not post here anymore.
And no I am not going to die because of my previous post.

Thanks Brian for that last post. I knew you would defend our honor without resulting to pissy name calling as I tend to do. The point that you and I don't have to post under a psuedonym is well taken. I have never posted anything directly nasty just to piss people off and I am proud of our school and our future and current classmates. Everyone else can **** off.

Tiffany

Hmmm....fat, ugly, "and" easy! LOL! Having sex during med school makes you easy? I don't believe I stated how many classmates I was considering per week, month, or year. I was hoping for 1 good one periodically. And "He" better be hot. 😛

I GOT IN!!!!
So Hi, all you classmates!

~Sara
TUCOM, Class of 2008

Hey congrats!

I think you'll love Touro! Pretty soon we should start introducing ourselves. Although I'm sure I'm already affectionately known as "that bitch from Texas" it would be nice to hear about everyone else...

Tiffany

Thanks! I think I'll love it too.
(Hell, I think I *do* love it! After all, they accepted me, didn't they? 😉)
Yeah. So I'm totally excited. Almost ridiculously so. Walking on clouds, you might say. I'd had two rejections in the past two weeks, and was sure TUCOM was going to be my third. I'd already started planning for grad school! (Yes, okay, so maybe I was being a *tad* over-dramatic. But I had good reason to be - my science grades are my big weakness.)
So yes, I'll be the one wandering around with the foolish grin... until our first exam block arrives and reality sets in!
Ha. Yeah, I'm over-tired and babbling.
Feel free to ignore me now...

p.s. Elysium... if anyone calls you a b*tch, I will knock them the hell out...

So THAT'S why you haven't been answering your phone!!! Duhhhhhh!!! Hope you had a great time!😀

Brian's been getting macked on by hot filipino women.

Rrrrrrrrrrr!

😉

I paid my deposit in the last week- so hello fellow classmates!!!

-jbernet1

jbernet1,

maybe it is from the years of disciplined training; waxing on and waxing off and what not, but I am such a stickler for spelling... Did you mean "Touro acceptance" when you wrote "Tuoro acceptance"

Good job on getting into school... you must be as happy as I was when I took Ally to Golfland for our first date eventhough my mom embarassed me by driving us in the ugly green family station wagon...

Ralph

macchioralph4279.jpg

Yep, I meant Touro Acceptance. Sorry about that. I guess as an English major I should be more of a stickler for spelling also. I was pretty excited too- I don't think it has really hit me yet.

-Jbernet1

hey, I read in the paper that Ralph Macchio just turned like 42 or something.
whatever happened to that guy anyway. I would have expected him to run for governor or something. Please, don't reply and tell me he does porn now. 42=wrinkly.

I would much rather see Ralph be the Guv than do porn (shudders).

Maybe we could get R.M. into public office in a new Recall Election!

😍

Hey everyone!

So Touro's adcom met up this past Thursday so a new group of people should be sending in their gi-normous deposit and joining me as a member of the class of 2008... If you are out there, drop a little intro and let yourself be known!

Happy Sunday everyone!
