Hey Monkey, your the girl that was from Flordia?

I was there from Friday to Tuesday... and Way to tired to interview that day that I even left early.

Also, I can't wait to hear about decisions this Friday... thats the fastest I've ever heard of any school accepting students after interviewing.

Just a note- I was accepted, but will be declining, so I hope that opens up a spot for someone else....

Good luck! :luck:

I was also there on Tues, and I was really pleasantly surprised when they mentioned that to us. I'm still finding it to be a bit of a tough wait until tomorrow afternoon, though, now how sad is that?:p

on the secondary application where it says Personal Statement, did you guys write a new personal statement or use the one you already submitted through aacomas. And if you did either have you received an interview yet or admittance. Thanks!

I was there Monday, and I know exactly how you feel. I think that knowing when you are supposed to hear back makes things even worse!

Although I'm glad that it is really soon! Just over 24 hours to go!:D:p

I wrote a different essay, separate from the personal statement I wrote for my AACOMAS application. I interviewed on Tuesday, and I still don't know about the decision yet.

I too, wrote a separate essay.

Can't wait till tomorrow.

I wrote a different one and got an interview.

Hey congrats to all the accepted applicants!

I know TUNCOM has a 2 week turnaround deadline for the deposit. I interviewed Dec 2, found out Dec 5 that I was accepted and I received my letter in the mail on Dec 10. I turned in my deposit via USPS priority mail Dec 10 and I checked on the website for the tracking number and it said that it was delivered on 9AM Dec 12. It is now Dec 16 and Roger Corbman said that he still hasn't received my deposit and I'm starting to freak out because the deadline is about to expire. I called him and he just said to wait until tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone else? I know it's delivered because USPS confirmed it with the tracking number

im sure this may have been asked a million times but how did you guys fill out all the info needed in those little boxes provided on the secondary??? They do not give you enough room

Hey guys,
I'm wondering if the touro schools NV, CA, NY all follow the same teaching style. Are there any major differences between them? I have a NV interview coming up and have already been accepted to CA. I wonder if NV has a stronger program? I'm contemplating if I should just submit the CA deposit and save a trip to NV?!
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys and good luck to you all.

I'm not a student there but did interview at both. I may be wrong but I think they are different. California has implemented a systems based curriculum as of last year while Nevada remains traditional. I can't really comment further. Maybe a current student can elaborate.

NV's class schedule is constantly changing. Classes taught each year are typically in the same time frame, but when they teach material within the class differs slightly.

For example: For anatomy, we did lower and upper limbs in first block. Last year, it was done according to the gray's book, so superficial back and upper limbs, then thorax, abdomen, pelvis, lower limbs, etc...

OMM and physical diagnosis are tailored around anatomy so the material in those classes are altered a little bit as well. This year, we're lengthening neuro to an additional month since there is an unbelieveable amount of information to be covered in 2 months. Unsure what "traditional" vs "system based" curriculum entails, they just give us material, and we just learn it.

Quite a few of my classmates had to decide between CA vs NV. Ultimately, they felt NV was a better school, faculty is much more student focused and it's not located on a marine base.

The only reason CA appeals to me is the fact it's in CA. For those in SoCal, NV is only a 3.5hr drive away.

In case anyone else has heard the rumors, a good source tells me that TUCOM NV will in fact be video taping all lectures starting in 2009. This will be a great plus to an already great school!!!

That's great....is attendance still mandatory? 8-10hrs a day studying seems much more feasible if lectures are optional.

Hmm good question. When I interviewed they were talking about shortening the time spent at school per day. Anyone know new news on these issues?

Hello all. Just wanted to say I am interviewing here on February 3rd. Anyone want to share if they are attending here next year and what sold you on the program. Thanks!

I was sold on Touro NV after I talked to a current student of TUCOM NV; He told me how pleased he was with the professors .You can have great facilities or a desirable location, but really great professors were an absolute must for me. Plus I like the location and the fact I won't have to move all over the country for the clinical years.

YAY got an interview invite today :) i would have totally gone for the Feb. 3 date, but unfortunately i think i might still have to go to my Touro NY interview that day (unless i hear good news from Western)... so probably Feb. 10... anyone else going for that date too?

I got a jury summons yesterday telling me to come in the same day I am flying out to Touro-NV. I called them and got out of it. Not sure what I would have done if they would have required me to come in.

Hello Everyone. I applied late to TUCOM NV (like December). I just got the interview invite and the available dates are all in March. I got the email after 5 pm and I will have to wait till Monday to schedule it. I think March is too late. Anyone canceling there interview spot?

Also where should I stay since I will be flying in a day before. I might decide to spend the weekend there but I am not sure yet. Any suggestions are welcome.

Palms Place was awesome. For a car, I rented a Toyota Highlander from Enterprise. It was all very easy and I'd do it again at the same places.

One night at Palms Place was around $150 (includes all the taxes, etc.), and the car was $55.

The professors are pretty cool. Hopefully you'll get interviewed by the biochem professor (her name eludes me now). She was great to talk to, although, if you have research, she'll definitely want to hear all about it, from top to bottom, but that shouldn't be a problem with a little prep.

Thanks that price seems pretty reasonable. I am glad I am going to turn 25 before my interview. So yay I don't have to pay extra anymore for car rentals.

I haven't applied yet (c/o 2014, hopefully) but I went to the tour today and I was really impressed with them. The professors and the facility, of course, but also the students who all seemed very well-adjusted, articulate, and most importantly, happy. I liked the atmosphere, and their cadaver lab is pretty large (34 cadavers).

I really wanna go there now! I'm excited, hopefully I can get in : )

I thought so too but make sure it's the Palms Place (called Jet Luxury at Palms Place) and not The Palms. The latter is the casino hotel and not as awesome.

Happy birthday and best of luck to you at the interview.

Are you doing the new 7 yr. B.A./D.O program?

Probably not, my science gpa isn't a 3.5 (though above a 3.0) and I'll be able to finish my BS in Bio before fall 2010 so I'm thinking I'll probably just apply regularly.

Hey everyone! I'm a first-year at Touro-NV and I wanted to congratulate everyone who's interviewing and being accepted! I also wanted to offer to answer any questions anyone has about life here. Feel free to PM me here or send me an IM at mtmedic86. Enjoy your time before med school! It's all over after you get that white coat :)

Hmm good question. When I interviewed they were talking about shortening the time spent at school per day. Anyone know new news on these issues?

There are several rumors floating about saying that the school would like to lower contact hours. As of right now, it is all still rumors, but video taping should be up and running for 2009. over the break, the school did a big revamp of the A/V stuff in all the lecture halls and classrooms.

On a totally biased and personal note, student life at the school is pretty rockin and though its a big class, we mostly know everybody in the class. there's a lot of interaction and there is something for everyone. student-professor interaction is what you make it. they are always available and are quick to answer emails. our anatomy director, Dr. Roque, is hilarious and totally on the side of the students. We've had practical anatomy exams and if the tag of the structure is poor or difficult to distinguish, he'll throw the question out or give everybody a point for it. I had never taken anatomy before med school and though its ridiculously hard, it's also a really fun, interactive class with kickin professors.

oh and fyi, if you like to golf, you'll love vegas and the cheap off-season green fees.

holla if you peeps got more questions.

coffeeeandtea i'll be at the Feb 10th interview. I scheduled my interview via e-mail. Do they send a packet with all of the information for what i'll need that day or is it just the normal stuff?

Ohh we can e-mail to schedule the interview?!!
In the e-mail attachment it said to call them to schedule, but I guess that means I can e-mail them today and then call tomorrow. Hopefully the Feb. 10 spots haven't filled up yet :\

On another note, it's so hard to keep going after being rejected from one of the schools I had a shot at.. I know I should just keep plowing through but this one really stung :(

All I got was an e-mail telling me dates. Didn't say anything about calling in. I got an outline of the day in my e-mail but does anyone know if they sound out a packet with more information. Like what to bring, directions, where to meet, etc?

coffeeeandtea, you can get 1000 rejections, but you only need one acceptance. Keep your head in there

I have an interview on Jan 20 Tuesday and I was wondering if anyone else is also scheduled on that day. I am staying at Palace station (fiesta Henderson) on the 19th and would love to meet up with current students and prospective students.

Also to answer the question posted above. I received an interview invite email stating what the available dates are and that I need to call them to schedule the interview. I spoke with Roger and he scheduled it for me. I was not told of anything that I need to bring. Also an email followed with a confirmation letter.

Interestingly, all Feb spots are filled and only March is available. They had a cancellation and I got that spot.

Till date they have 73 acceptances for 135 spots.

hey again - so i plan on renting a car from McCarren for the few days that i'll be there, do we need parking permits from the school for the interview day?? thanks :)

so i just got waitlisted, and i remember roger saying they accepted like 80 kids off the waitlist last year...anyone else have any other information about the waitlist?

So I am sitting at the airport waiting to fly out for my interview which is tomorrow. It is early morning and I am so excited could not sleep a wink.

I just cancelled my interview for Feb 2 so if someone has a later interview maybe they can get it rescheduled.. good luck!

Hi!

I was wondering if any of your have interviewed with a Dr. P (her last name is long and difficult to pronounce so everyone calls her "Dr. P")?? She's indian and is fairly young. If you have, can you let me know what type of questions she asks and how she is, i.e. hard, strict, mean, nice, friendly, etc.

Also, did any of you interviewed with Maureen? She's not a professor/Dr. teaching at Touro but just an administrative staff. If you have, please let me know how she was also.

Thanks!!

For those of you with interview dates in the future, I just gave up my spot on 2/2 due to a CA acceptance. If you call you may be able to get my spot.

Gotta wait till the 13th! Maaaaaaan...

I was wondering if there are any student hosts for interviewees? I'll be interviewing here on March 2nd, and trying to decide which motel to stay at - ideas or student host(s) would be wonderful!
