Interesting! It is reassuring to see that the HW moves, but I guess that was expected. They state in the interview that about 90% of HW students receive offers. This is sort of unsettling for those of us who interviewed recently and haven't had decisions made yet! I hope this doesn't mean that recent interviewees won't be receiving any outright acceptances. eek.
 
Recieved Interview Invite this week! Theres still dates until at least mid-march, so anyone still hoping for interview - It would seem you still have at least a couple weeks!

Got the letter today and I got put on the High wait list. This might be a blessing in disguise considering he said last year everyone from the high wait list got accepted and I don't have to pay the two grand right now. Hopefully I get accepted though:xf: I really want to go here.
 
I was pulled off of the high waitlist and offered a spot (which I am accepting) yesterday. I'm not sure if there is a ranking or chronological component, but I interviewed back on Nov. 30th if it helps anyone.

PS sorry to the two students in my group I talked to afterward whom I told I just gave the worst interview ever. Even though I was offered a spot, I wasn't being overdramatic. I still cringe when I think about how I felt after my interview, and how I failed on four consecutive attempts to say, "college campus community".

Good luck to everyone still waiting, interviewing, and applying.
 
No letter today (1/30 Interview), but I was accepted to my #1 choice MD school on Friday! But if in the case I'm offered anything positive I will be withdrawing in the hopes one of you would benefit from it 🙂 Hang in there all
 
It seems VERY VERY VERY odd that they are pulling from the waitlist and they are still actively interviewing people. I seriously do not understand the method behind any school's madness.

Hey Congrats on UW! I think I met you at my interview and I was really pulling for ya. For all the other curious folks...another high waitlist here...guess I'll see what happens!
 
does anyone know what the most current pass rates are for both comlex and usmle?

also can any current student shed light on their own experience with the curriculum, quality of rotations, overall atmosphere? i am trying to decide between here and LMU-DCOM so any advice would help. thank u
 
Hey guys, another High Wait List here! Obviously, wanted to acceptance more, but high wait list from this school is almost like a future acceptance (90% or more taken off high wait list). Plus like others have said, get to keep that $2000 deposit for a little while longer.
 
Just received my acceptance letter today in the mail, I will be respectfully declining the offer but I hope that one of you will benefit from it! Good luck to you all

really? I interviewed 2/3. No letter yet.
I am sooooo hoping to get in. I would accept in a heartbeat 🙁

Just got call and was taken off high wait list!! Was only on list for not even a week!

Hey, 1/30ers and 2/3ers. Did Taylor mention to you all WHEN the committee would be meeting about your interview groups?

On 2/13 he stated they would meet that Friday, 2/17 and then the Dean would review the decisions within about two weeks of that date, then the letters would be sent out.

Could you comment on when the committee met, and the date of the letter?

Maybe the Dean will review the 2/3 and 2/13 decisions the same day if he hasn't done the 2/3 ones yet.

Just want to make sure we will get $1900 refund back from $2000 deposit if we decide not to attend the school later right? Do we have a deadline to tell the school to ensure we will get the refund?

Yeah, I would do it before the final payment deadline just to be safe, which I think is May
 
Yes you will, that is not Touro policy, it is Nevada State Law.

Super congrats to everyone getting pulled from the HW.😀😀 It is nice that this school doesn't wait until May to move the wait list.

I interviewed on 2/13 and am so eager to find out what decision was made. I know the committee met last friday. 2/3 interviewers haven't even heard back yet which makes it seem like it will be forever before we know. All this waiting is so 😱

I wanted to confirm this as well. Is this written down somewhere? I want to make sure I have it in writing incase something happens and I decide not to go. I don't want to throw 2k away.
 
I don't think the admissions committee would lie about it. And you would have heard it endlessly here on SDN with brimstone and fire if people didn't receive the thousands of dollars they were promised back. My google-fu did not turn up any results, though.

It is written down on my folder that they gave me on interview day. I wrote it down after the admissions counselor, Taylor, said that it was refundable. He spent a fair amount of time talking about it and requested that anyone wishing for a refund to please let him know as early as possible so that he doesn't get hit with a bunch the week before class is supposed to start. That is for two reasons: one is that it is a paperwork pain for him and the other is because it gives them very little time to fill that spot.

Good enough or would you like a scanned copy of my handwriting?
 
Google it...it is state law you should be able to find it somewhere...why would I or anyone else make that up?

In case anyone is interested.... Touro Nevada just beat Touro California in their annual basketball game again tonight. Undefeated!! :meanie:
 
That is the main reason I picked touro NV over CA. Totally kidding, don't worry. But that is awesome.

I was planning to apply to TUCOM-NV next cycle. Do you think I have a chance with my stats?
I graduated from UCLA with an anthro degree
cgpa: 3.65
science gpa: 3.57

MCAT is 27
 
Yes you have a chance my stats were pretty similar.
 
This might be really stupid, but is it too late to apply? I just recently found out about DO schools, and I was just wondering if it's a bad idea to even try this late.

This is the aacom handbook. On Pg 17, you'll find the primary app deadlines... However, I believe these are just a formality.... If you aren't super desperate, I'd wait until next cycle, explore if osteopathic med is really for you, and apply places you are actually interested in instead of places that just happen to still be accepting apps. Hope that helps 🙂
 
Yea, applying right now warns the admissions committee how deep your commitment to osteopathic medicine really is. I'd hold off till June and buff up your application and round up LOR's from DO's in the meantime.

My plan was to rent an apartment/house near the school with other first years. But I haven't given it much thought yet. Would you or anyone else be interested in getting a roommate discussion started?
 
I think that's a brilliant idea! I just wasn't sure about where to start one. I replied to one of the TUN live ads but havent heard anything yet. I also have a cat so I feel like I need to have that as a disclaimer (but she's mostly under my bed). Also, we should maybe start a FB group? I havent seen anything like that!
