Tuesday Tips with Apply Point: Create a Brainstorming Document

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
As you craft your medical school personal statement (and eventually your secondary essays and behavioral interview responses) you will need to pull stories from your life to demonstrate the qualities that will make you a successful medical student and physician. We recommend starting with a brainstorm document.

Here are the benefits:
  1. You can use it to zero in on values and qualities you demonstrate consistently.
  2. It's a low-pressure way to think about content for your Personal Statement.
  3. It will help you identify stories to provide to each of your recommenders.
  4. You can categorize anecdotes for easy picking for secondary essay questions, e.g., "Teamwork/Collab."
  5. It will prepare you for interviews.
