for those of you who have received interviews at Tufts, how many of you did not put down anything in the section of the secondary that asked about your reasons for wanting to attend Tufts or to be in the Boston area?

hehe, i'm wondering the same thing....i left that blank and haven't heard anything for months

I left it blank, and I received an interview. Honestly, I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to this process, so I wouldn't analyze little things like that. I've only received two interviews (one acceptance) and both times the interviewer told me he/she was sure I would get in many places. If they're so confident in my chances, why haven't I heard from the majority of my schools!

I did not leave the section blank and I got an interview. I basically wrote that I was a massachusetts resident and intended to stay in MA for medical school, if at all possible. I really dont think getting an interview is particularly tied to whether or not you write something there though.

Wrote a paragraph about how much I like Tufts and how I can contribute to Tufts. Got an interview.

I have two friends who are students at Tufts. One filled in the paragraph and one didn't. It really has little effect. Tufts is incredibly slow, especially because they do everything by snail mail. I've been complete since early September and haven't heard anything.

I just received a letter from Tufts dated Oct. 29 stating that my application was not complete b/c my letters of rec had not yet arrived. However, I know that my pre-med committee sent the recs via certified mail. In fact, I received the return receipt, postmarked Oct. 15, nearly two weeks ago. I know that Tufts is really slow in this process so maybe they just haven't sorted through all their mail. Has anyone else had this problem? I just hope that if I call the school, someone can check my file. Is Tufts receptive to students calling to ask questions?

you should just call and ask, but i'm thinking it might have been lost in the file.
the admin at tufts seemed really relaxed and open to student input - there's less of a separation between students and admin so i wouldn't be afraid of calling. g'luck! :luck:

i wrote something for it and got an interview.
but a lot of other people at my interview didn't.

i agree with what everyone else says - it doesn't really play that much of a part in it. but i'm pretty sure tufts sees through bs answers so don't just put something down if you don't have a compelling reason, especially since they explicitly tell you not too.
