Hey, if the four of us don't get pulled off (malsponge, ashlianna, and mohawk) do you guys wanna form a band?

Any good band name ideas? You guys like The Forgotten Ones or Too Cool For School?
 
I play the drums, so I am set. Blanking on band names. Can't come up with anything funny. I LOSE
 
We could sing hits such as "My Cadaver Would Have Loved Me" and "The Stethoscope Blues". We could even do a macarena spinoff called "The Waitlist Shuffle"

We could make millions! 😉
 
Haha, sounds like a plan. Just curious, what sort of things did you guys do after you were waitlisted? I have sent two letters of intent (one right after I found out and one more recently) and have sent two more reference letters. Also, I have updated them with some recent grades. You people?
 
Pretty similar actually. A LOI, a few update letters, two additional letters of rec from doctors I've worked with, I even sent some photos from a service trip I took. I'm pretty sure they know where I stand with them.

Now back to the band...Ashlianaa sounds like she'd be a good lead singer, and Mohawk is most definitely our guitar soloist. Is Sartre on the waitlist too? He's probably an introspective guy with a name like Sartre, he sounds like he could be our songwriter.

Yeah, I did the same thing - update letters, LOI, recent grades, and emails. And many more to come it looks like...

Haha, yes I am on the waitlist. And a girl 😉. At this point in the evil waitlist game, I'm afraid any songs I might write would be awfully angst-y and cynical. But then, so is existentialism...okay, I'm in!

You guys sent additional rec letters? I never even thought to do that. Maybe I should?

Good Attitude! Sorry for calling you a guy sartre, cynical angst songwriting would be perfect for our band though. Many a great bands have thrived on it.

When you sent e-mails, did you send them to Dr. Beckman? I never got a response to any of the e-mails I sent to anybody. Then, later, when I called the office to see if the things I had sent in the mail made it, I was told "I am sure they did." So I actually don't know for sure if they received/read any of the stuff I sent them. But as I was told over the phone, I'm sure they did.

Anyway, the band will rock. We will tour. We will go everywhere and will play in New Orleans every other week.
 
I have been in contact with Dr. Beckman through email the past couple of weeks. I told her I had another update letter (before I got accepted off the waitlist, and she told me to fax it to her)...

I was put on the waitlist back in September, sent a update letter in Feb, and another one last week. Got off the waitlist this past Tuesday. I dunno if my timing last week played an integral part or what.... I really didn't expect to get off the waitlist... Hope this helps!!
 
Yeah, I dunno. We'll see I suppose. It is hard to say if they have accepted more people since Tuesday or not. It may be that those people just didn't post in the thread or on the board. We'll know by August 1st or so, haha.

I always emailed Dr Beckman. She answered about 50% of them, if she didn't reply id just write her again a week later.

Let's hope something happens next week since some ppl are withdrawing.

Damn, it's tuesday and there hasn't been any action here. I guess my hopes were that there'd be some more acceptances today...because doesn't the admissions committee meet tuesdays? bummer. i'm in for the band though. can i be the random instrumentalist who keeps switching? i mainly play the violin, but also the sax, the bongos, and recently i've been driving around with a harmonica 🙂 Possibilities for band names are endless.

have you guys received snail mail acceptance yet? or any confirmation that your $500 deposit is received? Dr. Beckman told me that I need to send my deposit by today, but I haven't received any confirmation yet.

Sooo someone got in yesterday if you check the class thread. Another week to wait for those deposits to go in.

Thanks Sartre! I will for sure. I had pretty much given all hope. Although my mind was racing really fast as I was talking to Dr. Beckman, I'm pretty sure she told me she was still had to bring more females into the class, so hold out some hope.

I received confirmation that my deposit was accepted, and a welcome letter to the class, all via snail mail today. Now I can withdraw from my other school. See you guys in August!!

Just got accepted today!!! I am absolutely beside myself with relief and excitement. The list is moving! I've been waiting for 2 years, and I had really begun to give up hope. To any still waiting, please hang in there. Good things are coming :luck:

I think Friday the 13th is now my lucky day!

Thanks, malsponge! She said something along the lines of "we've had a few slots open up" -- I can't remember the exact wording, because I was a little bit in shock. But yes, it does sound like more than one spot opened up! Keeping my fingers crossed :luck::luck::luck:

Thats awesome!!! Congrats, feels good huh? I'm down in NOLA right now looking for a place to live, I love this place.
 
AHHHHHHHHH I'm in!!! Don't even know what to do with myself...I thought it was pretty much a done deal at this point that it wasn't going to happen. I hope some more people get the good news soon...you never know...I didn't think it would happen. And to echo what JLofty said before, Dr. Beckman said that they were looking to "bring some more fine young ladies into the class" so if you have that extra X chromosome, your lucky day might be coming too. Can't wait to join you all August 1!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhh!

Nicely done! Great movement this year, Tulane really kicked it up a notch. Congrats! Lemme know if you plan on buying a condo. I got one this week and did a ton of research, I can hook you up with a good real estate agent too.
