Anyone heard anything lately (pre-interview). App. was complete a loooong time ago, but have heard nada.

nope. . . not a word. my app's been complete a long time too.

I haven't heard a peep. I've called a couple times and they just say that my file is still under review and they will notify me when a decision is made.

rolling since October 15th. they have been waitlisting people since late september.

Seaworthc:
Thanks for the information. Are you saying Tulane's class for this year (2003) is full and they have developed a waiting list? Do you know if they are still interviewing?

Thanks again!

hey bama,

what I was saying is I got a very early interview and many of the people who got interviewed in september got waitlisted way back then. should have made that more clear

their class could well be full, they do waitlist A LOT of people, but there is a lot of movement off that list once acceptances start coming out from places like duke, yale, penn, etc. I'm assuming since you have been on the boards for a long time, you know how to do a search. I think someone about a month ago said in on the threads about schools ignoring people that Tulane said it would interview many more people in the december, january, february time period. maybe even march. they are very friendly if you call there, they should tell you how long they will be interviewing. I know for sure that if you take the Aug mcat it hurts you there. someone from tulane didn't get an interview, called up to find out why, and they said it was because she had taken the august mcat. they then proceeded to give her an interview. if you are interested, give the dean a call or email. I have heard he is pretty receptive. I do know people who got invited to interview in late november have interviews at the end of this month. but that is about it. I think their site says they interview through the end of February,

anyways, I hope this helps

if you have any other questions, let me know

Would an e-mail of interest be as effective as a letter of interest, or even effective at all. They have a link to e-mail the school on their website. I just figured it would be quicker (this late in the game and all).

i say its appropriate

I'm getting really excited about my upcoming tulane interview! Esp with an acceptance in the bag...i can go to the interview with more confidence...

just to let you guys know that it is true that people who got invites in late november are interviewing in feburary! sheesh right? I got my invite on november 18 for an interview on feb 10.

anywhooo i got my Dartmouth rejection today...o well

i've called tulane twice & both times they've said my app is on hold. not looking good i suppose 🙁

Hey lola-
Don't be so down. My app was on hold for more than 4 months. I wrote Pisano and miraculously I was granted an interview, waitlisted, and subsequently accepted in July, so have faith.
On a side note- I really loved the school, and wonder every day if I would have been happier there than here. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Good luck!
PS-they like to hear that you really really really want to attend Tulane (of course, be genuine), so be excited to be there on your interview. I think it pays off more here than at other schools.
🙂

Lola,
Seems like you and I are in the midst of pretty similar admissions processes...Pitt, Tulane, the Ireland thing. Just thought I'd mention it and wish you good luck. keep me posted, especially when/if Irish schools (Trinity?) become a factor. 🙂

hey jmd! good luck to you too 🙂 this whole thing is enough to drive one crazy. for the first time in weeks/months i woke up in the middle of the night last night worrying... ugh. did you try calling tulane?

thanks for the words of wisdom, ucsffreak. i actually wrote an update letter/letter of interest to pisano last week, so hopefully i'll hear some good news soon. i could use it as it's been like a month and a half since i've heard any good news.

Hey guys...

Have faith. My application was complete in July and I received an interview invite yesterday. It's for February 6th. I know I might be interviewing for a waitlist spot, but I'm really going to try to let my enthusiasm show and hope to god they just let me in. I've had enough of the blasted waitlists.

I was so convinced that they'd be sending me a rejection as I'd also called a few months ago and was told I was on hold. The thick envelope came and it didn't even regester. I just kept thinking, "what, did they accidently send two rejection letters in the same envelope?" Duh.
😉

Congrats on the interview, manicmaven! I think you got the interview I turned down. I received the letter in Dec. for a Feb. 6 spot, and I declined it about a week ago. I'm glad it was put to good use.

Nice, mystic_b... can't thank you enough. Good luck with your process.
😀

Called today and was told that my app. was complete and had been reviewed, but was put on hold until they review again. Not the best news, but it sounds like they looked at it once and did not send me a rejection, so maybe there is hope.😀

that's awesome, manicmaven. i hope they will have a little love left for me and all the other sdners on hold 😍

Are you sure they don't have housing? I stayed with a student host. Plus I know they have a dorm especially for med students.

My host said there are tests next week, so maybe that's why they don't have housing available for you.

Yeah, it's the exams that are making the student hosts unavailable this upcoming week. And hotels fill up fast. Someone recommended the Radisson because it's so close to the school but it's full for both nights I'll be there. arg.
