I couldn't finish my independent study this last Spring, so now I've been given an I grade on the transcript. I'm going to start working on it tomorrow, I'm not sure if it's going to take a week, a month, or the summer to finish up (Hopefully a month). My question is, will Med Schools care that I got an I? How difficult is it to update them with my grade once I get it?

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I'm in the same situation. Got sick on the final day and couldn't take the exam. My professor has been out on vacation every since and won't be back until weeks from now and so I won't be able to take the final until later. You guys aren't alone.

I had an I on my transcript. It was actually a mistake that I never bothered to fix, because I wasn't planning on med school back then 🙂

It never came up in my interviews, and I wound up with a couple of acceptances. So I wouldn't worry about it too much, just get it fixed if you can.

Good luck!

technically, even if you change the I--to whatever grade you eventually receive and with no indication of an I afterwards--you are still supposed to report having had the I. i say technically because i'm sure that many people don't actually do this.

Ok, just want to bump the thread one last time. I'm going to put in a request for the transcript tomorrow, even though there is an I on a 1 unit lab class. Any advice on how to update schools once I have the final grade?
