Hey guys - I have an interview at Temple coming up pretty soon, and I was wondering if any one has any advice or general comments about the interview. I have looked through the interview feedback on this site, but I was just wondering if any one has anything extra to offer!

Thanks!

Its a straight forward interview day. You have a long discussion about Philly with David Martin. Go do the tour, visit the really nice and big clinic. Come back and have lunch and interview. Financial aid presentation. The interviewers at Temple are pretty nice, they will actually ask legit questions other than just having a random conversation so just know about yourself and whats going on. Nothing really to prepare for you know. I did 3 interviews with no real prepping or having practice interviews and I was accepted to all three. So just dont look or act weird and you will be fine. I will warn you that the building and the school isnt all that impressive but come on its Philly (its an old city) so dont just judge based on that. Its a pretty good school and I would go there but I picked another school but not because I didnt like Temple.

Really laid back interview.....don't stress at all. All of the DPM's that were interviewing seemed nice. My guy was awesome. Just relax and answer their questions and let the conversation guide itself. I barely talked during my interview. The DPM that was interviewing me talked for like 20 mins.

I have a friend who's a 2nd year at TUSPM now. At the end of their first year (right before summer break) the school decided to send them to the old medical school (in nasty north philly) for the first semester of their second year, while the medical students had classes next door in the new multi-million dollar new medical school. All of this was forced on them without advanced notice.

A lot of students were furious due to the lack of communication and managed to get the administration to have classes in the new medical school, but that didn't occur until midway through the semester.

Last rumor had it that next years class (14') will be having all their second year classes at the new medical school, then there was a rumor that said that wasn't the case.

Point being, simply ask David Martin, or better yet, Dr. Burke, what the situation will be for you second year. This will affect your living, transportation, or even your decision to attend.

Brodariatrist is right. David Martin did say that the final decisions are still unknown as to where the second year will be and that will not be decided pretty much until we are in our second year.

I chose to go to Temple. I really liked the clinic. New York is a great school as well, no matter what some people say. I turned down others, not because they are bad, but simply because Temple felt right.

It is a relaxed interview. They will take you through the school. If you are interviewed, there is a 80% chance you will get in. So don't worry about, know yourself and why you want in and you will get in.

Maybe I will see you there!

Just as a forewarning, when you go to your interview, don't let David Martin put you off on TUSPM. I have to admit that I had a hard time focusing on what I liked about the school because he acted so unprofessional. I mean, don't get me wrong, he was friendly enough and it was very laid back but he just gave me bad vibes. He tried to act too casual for a grad school interview. You'll see what I mean.

Otherwise everything was great. My interviewer was awesome. He basically just chatted with me about sports and the health care system in Canada the whole time.

When all was said and done though, Philly just wasn't for me.

Philly wasn't for you? What school did you decide on? I can understand Philly not being for everybody, it was an interesting city. Sorry to get off topic.

Yes, the group interview was rather informal and felt like a product was being demonstrated and sold too. I liked David Martin, he was fun, but I can see where one might feel a little bit uncomfortable with that style.

I think all the schools have their ups and downs. TUSPM's up is the clinic and that is why I made that choice, I liked the clinic and I liked being connected with the Temple University system. The chance to see their trauma ward seems like a great opportunity to me. Also, the number of patient cases in the clinic was a seller. I do not like the price. It is overpriced and my loans will be higher as a result. In the end, i hope I made the right choice, but time will tell.

New York is a little bit cheaper of a school and it is in New York. But I just enjoyed Philly as a city better and I liked the school. Hope you have the best of luck and if you are worried about getting in, then you will get in for sure. The type of person that is concerned usually does what it takes to present themselves well.

Hope I see you at the school, and if not, best of luck

I'm a first year at TUSPM and having the second years go up to the medical school was just a pilot thing that they decided not to go with. All classes will be in Center City at the podiatry school next year for 1st and 2nd years.
