Hey guys,

For all of you former OAT takers, I was just wondering if the ADA sample questions found here --> https://www.ada.org/oat/oat_sample_test.pdf are a good representation on the types of questions (in terms of difficulty and style) asked on the real OAT?

I found the questions from the ADA website fairly general and "easy". It was pretty straight forward and does not try to trick you or anything like that.

I'm using a DAT destroyer book and a Kaplan book along with some chad videos. I know the destroyer books are harder than the real thing but is Kaplan a good representation of the test? I found the physics section in the Kaplan books pretty hard, but the ADA was significantly easier....

Please give me some insight!

Thanks!

I think many people may have a different opinion on this question depending on their test but in my opinion I feel that the ADA questions are slightly easier than the questions on the actual test.

In terms of difficulty, I would say Kaplan >> OAT > ADA, but I thought the OAT was much more similar to the ADA practice test overall. Kaplan's physics was significantly more difficult.

I would say biology was a little harder than kaplan, chemistry and organic similar. Physics more conceptual. Reading was easier and quantitative reasoning similar. If you can get your hands on a dat/oat destroyer it will be helpful for biology. My biggest advice is to not work yourself up before the test. Easier said than done but I didnt get settled in until reading and my score really showed that. Just remember the test isn't life or death, your can always retake it. Good luck!

I felt the same way about the test. I thought the biology section on the actual OAT was as hard as or harder than the Kaplan tests, but I ended up doing better on the biology section for the actual OAT than I had for any of the practice tests. Your OAT scores will probably be around your scores for the ADA test.

Why would the OAT be any different in difficulty than the ADA practice test? The ADA practice test is just the OAT from about 4 years ago. Or is it just the luck of the draw? I bought the DAT second practice test from the ADA and scored similarly on the hard sciences, but went from a 400 on the math (with 7 minutes of time left) to a 330 due to all these crazy ellipses problems. I assumed that is just the luck of the draw.

You purchased a practice DAT exam from the ADA?

My test is tmr, GG guys I'm just sitting here watching football... lol

Is it worth it compared to the free pdf practice OAT?

I thought it was. There is nothing better than being exposed to the real thing for practice. Destroyer is beyond the level of the OAT and Kaplan is nothing like it (in terms of questions asked and how they are asked).
