Typical Pathway to Residency for a UK IMG

Hello,
I've recently been researching the ways into securing residency in the US as an IMG and was wondering if I could have some advice on the best pathway there as a non-US IMG from a UK medical school.

You take the USMLE exams getting as high a score as possible, you try to arrange some US clinical rotations before you graduate (since it's impossible afterwards), you apply via ERAS, and hopefully match into a spot. Needing a visa is a negative but many still get positions. Choose one of the less competitive fields or be prepared for a more difficult process. Skip any of those steps and it becomes more complicated.
