Hey all! Have been talking to a few potential employers and have been asked the question about what my productivity expectations are. I know the rabbit hole goes deeper into issues like, how much are they collecting compared to billing, what is the payor mix, etc.

Just curious to know what you are all seeing or have seen for typical productivity bonuses within the first several years. 50% of collections past a certain point? Lump sum after a certain threshold?

Also, if I independently join an ASC to do procedures, is it customary for the income to go to my employer or straight to me?

Note: None of my offers are RVU based.

are they letting you buy into the ASC or are you just doing procedures there?

They have no ASC from what I gather, I would have to independently join a local one if allowed.

If you don't have a share of the ASC and will only be getting professional fees for your procedures (ie no part of technical/facility fees) it's not a good plan. You'll be making very little for your work

50% of net collections above twice base is fairly typical

So if your base is 250k, your productivity bonus starts above 500k. This assumes a 50% overhead. If you generate $1M, your bonus would be $125K (500k gross collections, 250K of which goes to overhead, the remaining 250K is split between your employer and yourself)
