U of Chicago - no interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
sorry to hear about that...

i'm guessing the general theme is that this process is more than just numbers, depending on the schools...so you're not guaranteed interviews/ acceptances even with with stellar scores.

good luck! :luck:

I have similar numbers and got rejected to. It can be for a lot of reasons, and sometimes its just a random thing. A lot of people with high numbers get rejected, there are just a lot of us (they interview all the people with average stats and ones with below average ones to).

Didn't get an interview at U of Chicago...Illinois resident, 35 MCAT, 3.8 GPA. What happened?

Your stats are obviously excellent. UChicago, however, does not give preference to Illinois residents and it also looks past the numbers. If you look at the average GPA and the MCAT there, I think you can see that (they're still high , though I thought they were higher). That's why they have the ultra-long secondary - you have to write some pretty darn good essays.

I've already posted this, but I know 3 fellow students who ended up at WashU, but got rejected pre-interview from UChicago. So don't worry, you'll end up going somewhere great!

Hey, don't feel bad. 42 MCAT, 4.0, darn good essays, and reeee-jected. They'll just never know what they missed out on. 😀

actually, believe it or not, a lot of private schools do give a small amount of preference to state residents, including northwestern and uchicago.

Maybe that explains why I didn't get into either despite a 36/3.75. I'm still bitter about it though. Damn worthless essays.

I can't imagine why I haven't gotten an interview from them yet. Oh yeah, I forgot, its because they had the most idiotic secondary and I never even touched it. Seriously, shame on you people for having to come up with a canned 2400 character response to "what are your values?" Just kidding. And good luck with the other schools people.

Don't worry! I'm sure you'll get into better place. It really seems like a random process there. Maybe your stats were too high for their standards. 😀
