Hello,

I apologize if there is a thread on this, if there is please direct me to it. I was interested in knowing the reputation of U Pitt's MPH program? I know its in the top 15 overall according to US News. Is there anyone who can give me some insight as to the program?

My interests in doing the MPH would probably focus around biostats or epidemiology as there is a big push in medicine towards Evidence-based medicine. Would an MPH be an appropriate thing? I am currently completing my internship now after having gone through medical school.

Thanks!

Yes, an MPH (IMO) is a great background for EBM. But I'm biased 😉

I'm guessing that if you're doing thinking of doing an MPH in epi or biostats after medical school, you're interested in academic medicine (as opposed to just wanting to get a background in population health so you can be more of a resource in some small town while also doing primary care; not that there's anything wrong with that, of course). In that case, I would imagine the research you could do as part of your thesis would be at least as important as the reputation of the school. Any chance you're going towards critical care? If so, I would think Pitt would be a great place to be. I'm sure Pitt is great in many other areas as well.

UPitt is awesome period.
its good for almost any branch of medicine, including Public Health.as LADoc said elsewhere, we are all status ******.any place which gets you the degree you require(among the top15-20, what seperates one program from another? nothing except perception) and has a solid name/reputation is where you would be best off.
