UB rejections or what? Please help decipher...

Okay, so this morning I received an email from University of Buffalo saying this:
Dear Mr.

The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for admission to the 2014 Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.

The Admissions Committee has placed your application in "Continuing Review." The Continuing Review status means that, at this time, the Committee has not selected you to interview for admission to our program. All applications in Continuing Review receive periodic re-review, and a change in your status may occur. You will be informed immediately via email of any change in the status of your application. You may also find your current application status on the AADSAS Web Portal.

Thank you for your interest in the School of Dental Medicine, and congratulations on your decision to pursue a career in dentistry.

Does this = rejection??? This is sad, I really like the school, Anyone else got the same message? Please share ur experience

I don't want to falsely conjecture, but from anecdotal experiences on this forum in the past, it does seem to lead to a rejection. (most of the time?)

I figure that would be a future rejection too. Should I give them a call to find out why? I mean, why not send me a rejection so I can get over it already....such cruelty 🙁(

I got the same email last year and was placed on review and then I ended up getting accepted last minute in August so don't lose all hope just yet.

This is some relieve....🙂)) So you did get an invite for interview after that email? Like how late? Post December interview then?? Btw, is ur stat the same or better than mine? I am just really confused and frustrated now.....I have only got 1 interview so far...I hope and look so much for BU interview

Our stats are pretty similar, your may be slightly higher. I interviewed there in January, was placed on the waitlist in February, and then was accepted in August. I actually got accepted to my state school two days before I got accepted to Buffalo so I ended up not going there.

Acceptance all the way in August? Must be heart-wrenching for you waiting all that period. I thought dental school would start in August...and an acceptance in that month is kinda late. Anyway, congrats man!

Yes, I don't remember the exact time frame. Something like continue review around september or october and then interview in january. I didn't really call much until after I interviewed. Yeah being on the waitlist for a few months before school starts really keeps you eager, but I did get one acceptance in december though so that helped.

This is so frustrating. I've also seen the same at multiple schools I applied to, and I just wonder: wow what did I screw up?

I got the same email, I thought it wasn't that bad but after reading this thread I'm super worried now. I really wanted to go there

Me too buddy....I've been looking around this forum and came up with this. It is a 50/50 chance that you could either get pick up for interview or be forever forgotten in the pile of no interviews. I can not find a contact number with which I could call and express my concern. I am so depressed now 🙁(( This is such a good school

Sounds to me like they put you on the waiting list, which could still be a 50/50 🙂 theres still a chance, don't lose hope just yet!!

Hi guys....Thanks for all of the inputs. Well I have called and talked to a nice lady, she said everything is fine....and they just could not make up their minds on the interview yet....Sad, but I still have to carry on with one invite and one rejection (from ATU)
