i know what you mean fungman. i had an interview last year also and i didn't get accepted. just knowing how close you were just made it more devastating. i really hope we get in this year. i dont want to wait another year. :S

were you in your 2nd year going on third as well? its a bit harder for me because I will feel really old in that class if i wait another couple years..

anyone applying to ubc housing? i applied and i was put on the waitlist. im #1040 in line....i guess that basically means im not getting in for housing lol

I was doing some calculations and I figured that with each day the pharmacy school could only do about 22 interviews per day (8am-6pm) 2 interviews per hour. with only 4 days, that comes to 88 interviews, how do they complete 250? Do they have multiple interviews at once? Do they cut ppl short because they know they wont get it?

there are multiple interviewers.. when you enter the room there will be around 10 other people waiting with you ready to go at the same arranged time that you are

yes, everyone gets different interviewers. damn, can't believe it's next week. getting really nervous!!!! :scared:

everyone post something every day....
that way we can make sure that nobodies died of a mental breakdown

ok, yes...we can release all our worries on this discussion board. damn, i still can't believe the interview is next week. how are you guys preparing for it. i am hoping they are going to ask similar questions as last year, if i remember the questions they asked me. :I

Im surprised that I havent gotten that nervous lately, even though the interviews are coming soon. I feel a good way to relieve the stress is to exercise, its working well for me...👍

I'm doing the exact same thing as you tungster... pharmacy is known to re-use alot of their questions and change around 2-3 every year.. i hope they really do ask the same ones

by the way, the interviews start in 3 days!! not 1 week anymore...

Hey everyone, just trying to keep this thread alive...

yay i figured out what to wear...now i just need to figure out what to say lol

Do late interviewees have an advantage?

Surely, by the last day, the questions will be leaked.

hey guys i was just wondering how many students does UBC invite for interviews every year?
I know A LOT of people who have gotten interviews before only to find out in the end that they didnt make the final cut
also what types of questions do they ask?

i don't think that will ever be a problem. after all, it's not exactly in the best interests of the people who go early to go telling their competition about the questions asked.

I'm so glad people are posting.. now I don't feel so alone in this

Does anyone know how long the entire interview is? I know they said approx 25 mins, but is there a tour/orientation?

K you enter into this room to check in. Then they'll ask you to wear one of the lab coats, so they know what size you are. Then you sit and wait for an interviewer to escort you from that room to another location where the interview is taking place. You have your interview (takes about 25 minutes), then you're done. Then you wait 🙂

Well everyone, I had my interview, thought it went well.

Good luck to everyone

wow interviews are happening right now! gotta wait til thursday for mine...but i guess that makes the wait for my email shorter 😛

They said results will be given during the first week of july, I wonder what date? Does anyone from last year remember how long the wait was from the last interview day?

Pharm interviews last year:
June 26-June 29th
Results came out July 5th.... so they are really quick.

guys...would you post what questions they asked you in the interview
OOoOOh...you dont wanna post them since you dont want anybody to take the advantage😀 and go rockk the interview...Ok would you post them after all the interviews are done so i would prepare for the next year.

another question... do you guys think that 87-88% GPA is considered good, competetive, 100% acceptance, or only good for interview or what?

also, i have about 150 hours volunteering in 2 pharmacies (retail)and i m planning to make about 450-500 hours before applyin..is that enough? if not what do you consider good to get in..

tnx. GOOD LUCK WITH UR INTERVIEWS👍

Those stats are definitely enough. As for posting questions after interviews are over, we're still not allowed to do that since we signed a waiver. Maybe if you ask some of your close friends they'll tell you.😀

yes, generally people will not post questions up because they may re-use some of the questions for next year and we sign a waiver. it's better for everyone to have an equal chance. good luck everyone.

texasblaze: was the interview long?

Well I didnt time it, but I think it was around 25 mins, just like they said in the email.

You guys probably have one less applicant to compete with (if they don't call up anyone on a potential interview waitlist). I will not be attending the interview (got into U of Toronto pharmacy).

Good for you! Are you from Ontario?

Sweet! good stuff, one less competitive applicant

How did people find the interview today? I hope everyone on SDN performed well

i'm having mine this thursday.
i think you're the only one who posted texasblaze who have an interview.
how did you think you did?

I had my interview monday morning. I thought I did a pretty good job, I was definitely satisfied when I left the room.

All I can do now is wait and hope for the best 👍

I had my interview Monday afternoon. I think I did reasonably well, but we never know until we get the results, do we? 🙄 Good luck to everyone on this forum.

Well at least we can make some predictions based on our interview performance. I wonder how they can accurately rate our performance? What if some people have tough interviewers than others?

From what I observed, the interviewers record our answers and give them to a committee to assess later. I think that they have a marking scheme that they use. There's always some subjectivity in evaluations of this sort, but they're trying to minimize this as much as possible.

Hmm.. I was under the impression that they would evaluate your interview right after you leave and give you some score/rating then they use this score with your pcat/gpa/EC's to give you an all around rank.

This is just what I imagined, however this could be wrong...

yup, that's exactly what they do. and then they rank all the students according to their "cumulative" score and take the best 150 scores/students.

Ah, I see. Why did they bother writing down what you said, then? My interviewer also told me that they were going to share the contents of my interview with the admissions committee. 😕

They write down what you said so they can go back to each question at the end of the interview and give each question a score based on the strength of your answers. I assume they right down key points for your answer and give you a score based on that.

Does anyone know how many seats UBC pharm has for out-of-province students? It says a "few seats" on their website but out of 150 seats how many seats do you guys think it is?

Thanks!

does anyone have an interview today?

Just wanted to wish everyone luck on the interviews🙂

hey starstrike are you in UBC pharmacy school?
