I feel like I'm still in denial about how ****ty my undergrad was. I really lost steam in my 3rd year but managed to scrape back up at the very end. I barely meet the minimum requirement for my application to be even considered at UBC, but I still want to give it a shot.

ECs are:
1st author in a IF 4.6 journal
second publication pending (like 5th author or something)
VP for research-based club at my university
1700 hours working in various research laboratories (paid, international and local)
100 hours volunteering in a research lab at my university
200 hours in a hospital volunteer setting
500 hours volunteering with First Nations children in an underprivileged community (but 6 years ago? does this even count?)
50 hours volunteering in a wildlife conservation centre
300 hours in an musical ensemble
75 hours working in a public health research role
worked part-time (20h/week) as a cashier at a grocery store

Scholarships:
$5000 entrance award for academic excellence
$8000 research award
$1250 in various other non-academic awards

However, the amount of volunteering I've done in the past year or so is pretty negligible. Is it possible to make up for my extremely low AQ score with NAQ at this point? What else can I do to help my situation? Should I buff up my NAQ and apply next cycle instead?

Please convert your GPAs into the 4.0 scale. If < 3.0, they're lethal.
2.97 on a 4.0 scale. UBC requires grades reported on a converted percentage scale, which ultimately brings my average down. Their minumum OGPA or AGPA is 75%.
