lets have all the positions for now and we can update those in future!
 
My mom told me that I was on the bottom of the wait list because I am a devil worshiper and that I need to start going to church. I asked her if she has taken my little brother to church recently and she responded with "shut up!"

how long did it take for you guys to hear back after the interview? I interviewed 1/17 and havent heard anything yet...

Well, one would assume they call them "thirds" b/c they evenly distribute their waitlist candidates amoung the thirds. Since it is a numerical ranking, I don't think you can read too much into it since the cutoff is probably based on how many candidates fall into each third.

I would imagine if everyone on the waitlist posted, we'd have even numbers for each third.

Fewer people posting in each third may mean that people are already dismissing UB and choosing a different MD school. But you are right, it is a bit presumptuous to try and read into it.

i have an interview at u of B coming up. Any hotel recommendations??? i'm looking for cheap, clean, convenient. Also, how long is the interview day? thank you!

I am not too sure about hotels, but interview day is from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. It could end sooner or later depending on how long your interview lasts.

you should have gotten a buffalo packet with hotel information. i believe either of the choices they offer are fine. i made the mistake of staying in downtown buffalo and taking the "metro" to campus. i know one of the options offers free shuttle service to campus.

I know the Hampton Inn-Amherst offers free shuttle service and has a UB Medical Interview Rate of $74/night (and a hot tub). The other one in the interview package is comparable with the same ammenities and the same rate... but the shuttle is based out of the Hampton Inn, just FYI.

Clarification: The other hotel uses the same shuttle as the Hampton Inn, but you have to wait for it to drive over from the Hampton.

One of my friends is on the Buffalo waitlist and is pulling hard for that school. He's pulling hard for the school and when he found out his spot on the waitlist, it wasn't exactly great news. Is the Buffalo waitlist one where you can move UP on the list or is the only direction down? It'd be great if I could tell him some good news. Thanks 👍

Well, from reading posts from previous years and looking into this a bit, I think they get through the upper third virtually every year and usually get most of the way through the middle third (though that often isnt til late in the summer). I really don't think middle third is all that bad, just have to wait a little longer and its not quite as sure as an upper third placement... Unfortunately, I got shafted into the bottom third so I don't stand much of a chance (though I've read they sometimes take a few people from the bottom third as well - depends on the year)

It's my top choice right now. In-state tuition, I like the curriculum, seems like there will be great clinical opportunities in Buffalo.

I know this thread wasn't the right place to post, but I was excited and I couldn't find a more appropriate one 🙂
