I just called and found out I am in the Middle of the Middle Third 🙂

Hey man, congrats! That means you'll probably get an acceptance at some point... Just out of curiosity who did you speak to (Dr. Severin?) because I have e-mailed him twice, first time asking rough position and second time asking where in the bottom third and have only gotten very short replys each time saying I was in the bottom third (no indication where in that third).

I actually know it is not only for waitlist. When I interviewed, Dr. Severin told us that they keep open spots right up until the last interview. So, no matter when you go, you'll be interviewing for an actual spot in the class. Good luck to ya. Hope you do better than I did.

They said they would tell you what third of the waitlist you are in. Some people have apparently talked someone at the admissions office into letting them know their relative rank (high mid low) in their respective third of the waitlist as well. I don't think they will tell you exactly where you are on the list.

The average time would probably be 3:30, but some people don't get done until 4:00. They ask the candidates if anyone has a flight to catch and will accomodate you (within reason). The earlier you show up, the earlier your interviews are. You're supposed to be there by 9:15 for check-in, but I was there a half hour early and was done shortly after 3:00.

Does anyone know what the general trends have been in the past for people on the waitlist and whether people move up or down in the rankings as the final 6 weeks of interviewing is approaching? I'm really hope to either stay where I am on the list (middle of middle third) or move up (just not move down!). Thanks.

Apparently they have the largest college ski/snowboard group in the nation. That means you can get cheap lift tix and easy transportation to and from the resorts. If I end up at UB I'm gunna go snowboarding as much as possible.

I didn't want to start a new thread but what is this intermediate list Buffalo put me on pre-interview? I know it's a hold. I applied there numerous times but they never gave me one of those. And it was kinda late in the season too...in 03/12. Anyone have anything good come out of this?

Anything about this thread is post-interview!!!

I have heard that there is a similar pile for pre-interview but they only have about 6 more days of interview and I would thing about 150 more people max!

I got an email this morning stating that I had been waitlisted at UB. Depressing. I have gotten into other schools, but this is my first choice🙁
I am not too optimistic about getting accepted off the waitlist. Does anyone know how many students have been accepted already and how many are on the waitlist? I'll call but I am pretty sure that I am at the bottom of the list, since they waited so long to get back to me. I have not even been offered an interview only a waitlist position. Did they "waitlist" you or did they place you in an "intermediate" pike like another poster said above? I highly doubt you're on the waitlist if you haven't even interviewed there

Yay! I'm in the same boat, and I was worried about that big time. When are you interviewing? I'm on April 25... I'm out of state, too, a little confused as to how I got an interview, as my stats aren't exactly stellar (I think only ~5 OOS each class???). I'm so excited though!

I'm on the bottom 1/3 of the waitlist. Now, much later into the app. season, i realize how much I sucked at one of my buffalo interviews (the one with the DEAN!). I'm probably at the bottom of the bottom 1/3, so I shouldn't be a problem. hehe. good luck, all!

1. I was asked how come I tried research in both biology AND chemistry, and how those exp's played a role in wanting to be a doctor. My slipped up in my answer, and accidentally mentioned that I felt like research was disconnected from application of knowledge to something that affects people. Interviewer = md/phd.

2. I told him I download movies 😕

3. The phone rang in his office. He said it was a student who had asked for a deferral last year for personal reasons, matriculated this year, and was having trouble again. He commented on compassion, etc etc. I think I should have just let it be, and wait for him to say something else. But I'm uncomfortable with silence, and he has paused for a good 5-7 seconds. I started building off of what he said, and related it to me and my app. I think I shoulda kept quiet.

4. I feel like I bombarded him with questions...🙁

no idea. it's a ranked waitlist, so i guess people above me got accepted/rejected, and the rest of the list got pushed up...

I called and asked where I was. I was told middle 1/3. A few weeks ago I was told bottom 1/3.

Not with all research, but some. If the research involves e. coli transformed with a human gene X (or any other medical research), then its definitely not disconnected.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all your posts. Waiting is sooo painful. I interviewed in december and was waitlisted shortly after. I'm currently in the upper third of the waitlist. I called the office and they said there are about 300 people on the list. That's such a big number! They are also possibly interviewing until early May. I really hoping we can all get in at some point. How are you all keeping sane? 😳
