Yes, according to Kathleen last week it is via email and any time between March 22nd and April 1st! Good luck everyone!

Just to update you all, I checked my acceptance letter, They were emailed on March 22nd and 23rd last year ( end of finals week) so hopefully they get them out next week for you guys too. Congrats on all your amazing interviews! and for those still coming to interview good luck! We know you'll do awesome.

Editted to add: My interview offer email said they would begin notifying the week of 3/23

It is by e-mail. And prepare to read the subject line: "UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine" and have a heart attack right before clicking open. 😛

Good luck everyone! 👍

Reading that already gave me a mini heart attack. Hopefully they put something else in the subject line.. like with the interview invites!

I just had my interview! SO EXCITED! I can't wait to hear the results in the upcoming weeks 😀

To confirm what others have said, Ms. O'Bryan told me this morning that they will be sending out emails by April 1, but it may be sooner. She said she can only send ten or so out every three minutes, and often they have issues because the university server thinks they're all spam due to the number of links included in the attached word document. Also, they're sent out in a completely randomized order (not alphabetical, not ranked, etc.)

So, she specifically told me not to freak out if other people hear before I do. Easier said than done. SDN will be particularly stressful those couple of hours/days since we'll all hear in a staggered timeframe.

Much luck to everyone :luck:

thanks for all the great info. waiting is definitely taking its toll😳

good luck to everyone who interviewed. i hope the wait is worth it for all of us here!!!!!😱

I didn't ask when I interviewed, but a friend of mine who did was told by Kim O'Bryan that the adcom was going to meet on March 22nd to make decisions. If that's true, I wouldn't expect to hear anything before then. (hoping they are meeting earlier...in previous years they have! )

Something I noticed during my interview was Dr. White referencing that they are accepting 135 students. I always thought it was 133 . . . I'm not going to read into this too much because he could have been rounding, but does anyone know if they've increased the class size by two? That could be the difference for some of us (although I'm hoping none of us is boarderline and we all get in with a slam dunk 😀)

It's only been a day since my interview and I'm already going crazy about the wait. It would be easier if we knew exactly which day we're going to be notified, but I understand why they can't peg it down like that . . . I guess the best we can do for now is practice our patience and keep each other informed and up-to-date on any developments/hearsay/rumors.

when i went to my interview i talked to kim for almost 30 min before and she informed me that they actually over accept the class to almost 143 students. This is because many out of state students actually decline because they are accepted to instate schools or receive financial help from other schools. So she said around 143 acceptance letters will be sent then they create a alternate list of about 25 or so and last year they still pulled from the alternate even though they over admitted. Once they hear who id declining their seat they create a class of around 133 students, but they do not have an exact number because depending on funding the number can change. hope that helps! and hoping for good news from davis!

😀 Two awesome SDNers happened to be among those alternates who were admitted!

Last year they accepted 140, had 3 deferred from the prior year, had a waitlist of 20 and took 6 from the waitlist for a class of 133. 😉

We actually had 136 at the start of the year (135 now since one dropped out in Fall), 3 I believe from previous year.
I heard some stuff that in the future they were going to try to up enrollment but I doubt that will be happening for a while.

Wow, I didn't know there were that many from class of 2012 who ended up in class of 2013; I only knew of one.

I was just reporting on the numbers from the adcom side though. Good to know that they will still let the same number of people in even if there are refugees from other classes. 😀

edit: The number I've heard kicked about for a way in the future goal is a class size of 160.

There might be only 2 from last years class (I know 2 for sure) and I thought one of the professors mentioned there was another one who had PELP'd but not sure. We only have 1 person that would be going back next year as of now (my lab partner who left in fall) so I dont think they take away from next years class to hold spots for us, in general they try not to have any of us repeat it seems.

160 is what I heard as well.

I think I have waiting for Davis down. Finals next week plus jury duty over spring break equal no time to obsess. yay?

Lucky? I have spring break next week and I'm only working a few days, so I will be sitting here looking at my email and wearing out the F5 key futilely.

I. LOVE. DAVIS. I just got back from my interview last night and I've already decided that I'm moving to Davis whether they let me in the first time or not. Thanks to everyone who came to dinner on Sunday. It was fun meeting y'all!

The recommendation from CorporateFatCat of going to the arboretum was right on. If anyone is visiting later this week, I highly recommend it as a place to look at birds and plants and just chill out. I saw several of these handsome dudes and these guys were all over the place, but I couldn't ID much else because I forgot to pack my binoculars. 🙄 I saw my familiar friend, the Yellow-Rumpy (as my family calls them) hanging out in a tree in the parking lot outside the VMTH. </birdnerd>

I thought my interview went better than any of my other interviews (so glad it's not a behavioral format) and I impressed them with my knowledge of random horse facts on one of the questions. Of course, on another question, (trying not to be too specific in case they use the same question for the whole week) I had only the vaguest idea of what they were talking about because it almost NEVER occurs on the East Coast. I told them that up front and posited what I *thought* caused it and how to proceed from there, but I realized afterward that I was off course. Oh well.

Unfortunately, I feel like I may be starting to get sick from one of the disgusting people I encountered in air travel who cough into their hands and do not disinfect their hands afterward. Yes, I saw multiple people doing that. On the funny side, there were half a dozen sparrows hanging out IN the terminal at the Phoenix airport.

P.S. I know I asked poor GeeQued (thanks again!) a zillion times, but they DO encourage people to come observe in the teaching hospital, right? It's just so important to me that I keep doubting my memory. 😀

I took a stroll through the arboretum post-interview as well. But there was a big dead crow lying across the middle of the first path I took. I'm hoping this isn't a bad omen :scared:

They definitely allow you to go in there when they are open. They have treatment crews that help the 4th years do treatments for CAPE and I believe small animal has one too. Plus they have emergency services where you can go in and volunteer for longer shifts over the weekends and are tons more involved. I think there are certain things (surgery, going into exam rooms, etc) that you cant do observe (with the exception of our surgery viewing room which is pretty neat) In all honesty theres not much time to do that outside of school and during the summer you can sign up for clinics which get you directly involved (Im very excited about equine surgery rotation this summer)

I hope I didn't get you sick! They told me its just my allergies and to deal with it (all this lovely rain is bringing out tons of stuff blooming.

I literally got sick hours after my interview. I figured it was a combination of pre-interview stress and the airplane (aka a petri dish in the sky). At least you're getting sick after the interview and weren't sick during the interview!

My nice tour girl mentioned that the administration was meeting to decide whether or not to close one of the large animal barns - I guess the main teaching food animal barn as I understood it? Anyone know what the outcome of this was? I loved Davis, but stuff like that scares me a tad...

There was a meeting last week about it, C barn is definitely hurting but they are not going to close it. I believe their strategy is trying to get the word out more that it exists for referring vets to send animals too. Additionally I heard something to the effect that letting referring vets know if they have to turn down a procedure because of client can't afford it then to refer them to the school to see if they could do it cheaper. Basically trying to get local vets to refer in more cases but without taking their business away.

Thanks for reassuring little ol' neurotic me.

Hey is anybody in town tonight? I have a non-SDNer who interviewed today and is from out of state. I would love to show her around Davis tonight and tomorrow night but unfortunately with finals I will be holed up here at the school studying. Anybody want to meet up and hang out? PM me!

Wish I could fly back to Cali and hang out . . .

I interviewed today and it was a little frustrating. It seems like all the other interviewees in the afternoon couldn't meet with their hosts (myself included). Combined with the rainy, windy, gloomy weather, it wasn't exactly a good day to see Davis the town or the school in its best light. They tried to arrange a tour of the hospital but just couldn't get any of the staff on board.

On the bright side, the "interview mascot" pup was really fun and everyone was friendly.

now let the waiting begin!

Same here. I've sat on my butt for the better portion of the day. Why didn't you post? We did have one interviewee with us today--the one who ShelterURIgirl posted about yesterday.

I'm sorry that we didn't have good weather for you, but I hope the interview went well.:luck:

I would have helped out! I could definitely give a pretty good tour of the VMTH and Davis, if nothing else. 😛

I was there anyway.

My bad. Honestly thought it would be ok if just walked around but didn't bother checking the forecast. I don't blame anyone but myself!

I guess I'm not going to be a meterologist. I figured if the weather was beautiful in socal it would be fine in norcal. Oops.

Sorry I missed your post last night (I was pretty tired...long day). Yeah you are both right. I should have posted, but somehow it just didn't occur to me. I guess I am not inclined to think of imposing on other people. Silly really.

I know what to do next time!

I think my colleague summed it up nicely, but a lot of the panic and hype about C-barn was rumor based. There is no way UCD is going to close C-barn. They are making cuts, yeah, but UC Davis would not be a proper vet school without C-barn. C-barn is awesome.

Besides, we have an enormous private donation pool that we can pull from. But in order to receive additional private funding, some hype and panic needs to be created which is why I think some departments of the school are trying to complain louder than others. This is all just my opinion, btw.

does anyone know if rejections, waitlists, and acceptances will all be sent out at around the same time? i mean, will they mix these all up throughout their notices?

just curious😕

Last year everything seemed to go out all at once, except only small batches of emails at a time.

I just walked by the interview room and saw the admin committee all hovered around a table. They are choosing the applicants right now...

GOOD LUCK!!!

I did the same. It was weird to think that their discussion is changing lives--for people and animals both. Wow! How cool is that?

Good luck SDN'ers! :luck:

thanks for the info. how exciting (and scary)!!! :luck:

Truly amazing to think that while I sit here they sit in Davis, deciding the fate of myself and so many other hopefuls! I know they understand how life-changing their decision is and I am confident they will make the right (but tough) choices.

Thinking positive thoughts for all us SDNers and hoping for good news soon. 😀

most definitely- i hope they give all of us shaky handed pre-vet students a fair shot! i mean we still hit veins like 95% of the time, riiiight? :highfive:

Wow, I was actually somewhat calm until I logged on and read this thread. *runs in circles screaming*

I stayed away from Valley today. Wasn't too hard to do considering how craptacular my week has been so far.

sorry to hear that. hopefully next week will be totally spectacular:xf:

Good luck SDN'ers! :luck:

that was a pretty crazy insight. let the countdown/paranoia/voodoo magic begin...

hope your week gets better nyanko. finished my last undergrad class ever today..and precelebrated st. patty's w/ green beer :luck: good luck to everyone w/ their finals if they got any this week. 😀

oh god i've never been SO stressed out in my life. this on top of finals and everything else just makes me physically sick to my stomach. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!! :luck:

I know impatience is getting the better of me, and I tried restraining from asking this, but . . . since they made decisions yesterday, do you think we may hear the results as early as this week???

For students who have applied in the past/current first-years, do you happen to remember how long it took for decisions to be emailed once the admissions committee met?

I just can't get it out of my head that I may get an email on Thursday or Friday, and it's a rather wonderfully distracting thought . . .

Good luck everyone :xf::luck::xf:

I believe they make the decisions this week (but I don't know that it is all done in one sitting).

In the past they've started emailing offers the Friday before spring break, but in the past only a few have gone out that Friday.

Hang tight guys -- the wait is almost over and no matter what, you did the best you could! It's out of your hands...

Good luck!!! 🙂

C/O 2013 is so good at making me feel better 🙂

Heads up out there!! Got my rejection email at 11:07 am! It's ok though because I am going to Western so I hope someone else gets in on the good news for me! Best of luck to everyone!

I got my rejection letter this morning at 9:43 am. Can't say I'm surprised after my interview 🙁. Well at least now I don't have to make a choice between this school and Wisconsin! Hope the rest of you get better news than I did! :luck:

Thanks Nyanko - this has been a great thread, and I am sure we will all "keep in touch" over the years! Western was first choice for multiple reasons, but Davis was extremely impressive too!
