UCI acceptances?

I know a lot of people from 11/21 group got acceptances on Dec. 23rd, right before the school closed for the holidays. I interviewed on 11/21 but I didn't get that phone call so I'm not sure if that means they haven't gotten to my file or if I'm on the waitlist/rejection list (probably the latter).
I'm tempted to call and find out but I don't want to bother them if they haven't made the decision yet. It's just that I have a gut feeling that they've already reviewed my file. When did you interview?

I was in the 12/5 group and they said that we might not hear back until early February.
 
From what I heard is they don't reject post interview....you only get accepted/waitlisted...and they send out the rejections after March.

Can anyone verify this if they know for sure...

I don't know for sure if that's true, but I called earlier today (or technically, yesterday) and the lady on the phone told me that I'm on "hold" which she said means I'm on the waitlist. I thought they were two different things, hold meaning "eh..we're not so sure we want you yet" and waitlist meaning "u'll be accepted if we get to your name". she said they were the same thing, soooo i'm not sure. but so far, I haven't seen anyone on SDN who has interviewed and been rejected. I think they just rank everyone and so everyone ends up on tht "waitlist" somehow, but it's ranked. I have no idea though, I'm just guessing. Someone else who knows better should verify this.
 
ok, so i just now checked my status online, and it says "alternate list" if it helps any. not that it matters, but i figured i might as well state it as it is. this sucks big time 🙁 i hope there's still hope of me getting accepted. at least im not rejected though!
 
thanks chocobo! I'm hoping for the best. It's still one of my top choices so I hope that waitlist moves fast!! I'll keep you all updated 🙂
 
From the 12/5 group?
 
I guess they haven't made the decisions yet.
 
does anyone understand the terms of the statement of intent to register? the language on the form sounds binding, i.e. "i intend to matriculate at UCI..."

is it safe to send in? i am still waiting to hear from other schools

make sure to send that thing in quick as they want it within 2 weeks of receiving the letter.

Actually, I haven't had to turn in a deposit yet!
 
When did you guys interview and get accepted?
 
I interviewed on 11/21, and I haven't heard back yet. Apparently the committee hasn't reviewed all the files from that date.
Oh, and bye the way Coco, I'm rooting big time for you. May you here back in early May with a nice fat envelope. 😀

I'm sorry. I think your ideas sound good. Do you know if UCI is a ranked alternate list? If it's not then showing your interest is very important.

When did you interview??

Well, they tell me that there is no rank. But I would not be suprised if they had some kind of informal hierarchy. As for updating the file, the admissions office told me that it "might" help.

I know that they are making decisions this week too--so the rest of you guys may still be in good shape. Good luck.

I talked to the admissons office today - the committee met yesterday, so those of us from 11/21 should be hearing very soon. I'm not sure about those from 12/5. Good luck to all!

i just interviewed on 1/4, but i'd like to join this thread. 😛 i guess i have a long time to wait...anyone else out there from the 1/4 group?

I'm still waiting on a couple more, and I should know in early March (non-rolling schools). But due to tuition (and the fact that I really liked UCI 😀), UCI may very well be the school. 👍

Congradulations 🙂! I am hoping to hear soon as well (12/5 group) Did she call in the morning?? I guess they work the weekends at UCI hehe

Heard from the office last week: Dr. Peterson has the files, and they should be back in the office mid-week. So hopefully the rest of you guys get calls soon.

For those of u who were accepted, do the recent scandals at UCIMC affect ur decision to go to uci?

It is really not that bad of a scandal...

Also, most ppl haven't made a decision whether to attend or not...

I am sure that most decided to hold onto their spot for now once they were accepted.

I interviewed on 1/18 and got accepted on 2/10. I'm MSTP tho, so things are usually done differently.
