That's what I thought, but then when I called Gayle, she told me on hold meant on hold. It meant that you were waitlisted until further notification.

I'm confused, but guess I'll wait a week and see what happens.

ok, im on hold on alternate list post-interview, but just the first column. what does that mean? its been a little under a month since i was there. does that mean im being reviewed or wait listed? 🙄

i hope i hear in a week too. congrats to those who got in!

Just a couple of days ago my app went from "pending review" to "review in progress". Just today I got the email that said I have an interview in December. Yee Hah... this application process is really starting to feel like a roller coaster!

Sure would be nice to get an acceptance from a cali school... droooooolll........ 😎

hey exm

so i emailed gayle because ive been complete for about 3 months and still my file hadnt been reviewed. she said she was surprised at this and thanked me for putting it to her attention and said that my file would get reviewed.

so if youve been waiting like me for at least 2 months without them even looking at your file...maybe you can call or email gayle...

but we'll see if it is all talk and no action...

pending review preinterview........meaning they havent even looked at my secondary to decide whether i should get an interview or not.
 
Keep the hope up Jlee, UCI is really really slow.

And for all the post-interview holds people, any news yet? I get paranoid every time the phone rings ***please let it be Dr. Peterson!!!***
 
Hey has anyone who interviewed at uci 10/30 or thereabouts heard anything back from them? mine says "on hold" under alternate status. i am trying to figure out how long it takes them to get back. do they actually send an email/letter saying that youa are waitlisted if that is the case?

Got a call from Dr. Peterson today!!! Yaaaayyy!!!!!:clap: :clap: (still regaining ability to breath as we speak)

I am hoping my status page will change from being reviewed to interview scheduled soon. UCI sounds like a great school, so I hope I get an interview. Anyway, congrats again!

i was also on 10/30. when did they write on hold for you. i think they wrote it for me like last tuesday.

i can't remember, but i think my status change also happened sometime early last week. ah this is so nervewracking. i hope we can join the accepted club soon 🙂 congrats to those who are in already!
 
for you guys who were on hold and then accepted, did you do anything, like call them or something, after being on hold....or did you just wait silently and then hear. thanks and congrats again.
 
do you think those of us who interviewed on 11/12 will hear before the end of the year??

Thanks! I was on hold for about 2 weeks (including the 3 days the office was closed for Thanksgiving).

I considered sending a LOI but in the end, I did nothing and just waited. Gayle told me that most applicants get waitlisted until March when they send a big load of acceptances out.

But if you don't hear anything for another week, and you really want UCI, then I think you should send a LOI. From speaking to med students, UCI is really big on this. One person's LOI got crossed in the mail with a rejection letter, and 1 month later, the rejection got changed into an acceptance! 😱

i interviewed on Nov 12. I was just put on hold in the past day or two. Is there anyone out there who was accepted without first being put on hold?
 
Hey, I interviewed on 11/12 and I too have an On Hold status for alternate row. Is that a good sign?

I am crossing my fingers that we'll hear from them next week. JTN.

Has anyone from the 11/12 interview date heard any news?? I've had the "On Hold" message for over 2 weeks now... 🙁
 
i interviewed 11/12. i had the 'on hold' message under the alternate column for a couple days...and then 'on hold' changed to 'yes'. I called gayle after the message changed and she told me that 'yes' meant that i was waitlisted. So i think 'on hold' only means that they're reviewing your file.
 
did anyone who interviewed in november recieve a call from dr. peterson?? my status recently changed from "on hold" in the alternate status box to a final decision letter mailed today.... eeeeekkk!!! the suspense is UNBEARABLE!

p.s.--hapkidochic--- i wouldn't worry too much about being on the waitlist, from what i hear it has VERY good movement and a lot of the class comes off the list 🙂 GOOD LUCK!

it took about 3 weeks to a month for me to get the interview invite.
 
For those who interviewed on 11/12/03, I'm told that UCI will be sending out letters on monday (12/22/03). I happened to called Gayle on Friday (12/19/03) because I was confused with my status page saying "final letter sent out" and I thought I didn't get in cuz everyone here who was accepted got a phone call and I didn't. Gayle said that shouldn't be on there. Guess I happened to log on when they were printing out the letters!

Anyways, after telling me I got accepted, I was THEN put on hold to check if that was right. Luckily, the decision was correct!

I told Gayle I still wanted a call from Dr. Peterson. I got one yesterday and acted really surprised. jtn.
 
HA...I interviewed on 11/12 as well. I got the call yesterday as well. It's great to hear of an acceptance over a phone...just great:clap: :clap:

i got the call on sat too!!!!! soooo incredibly relieved!!! it was my first acceptance so a humungous weight has been lifted off my shoulders (plus, nothing beats a uc 😎 ) now i feel like a total nutcase for being so paranoid before... but it is just so hard not to get a little nutso in all this craziness... especially when you don't have an acceptance... but now i know i will finally fulfill my dreams of being a doc, and NOTHING beats that!!

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO GOT IN!!!:clap: and good luck to those still waiting---STAY CONFIDENT AND DON'T LOSE HOPE!

Hmm, I'm still on hold for an interview, and I hear there's only five interview sessions conducted a year. Shall I give up hope?
 
five interview sessions? meaning fine interview dates? well, if i remember correctly, last year i got my interview invite around now-ish....actually maybe it was beginning fo february...but i was an august mcater, so i don't know if that had anything to do with it....maybe someone could call? and beg for an end to the waiting?

There has to be more than five because they sent me a letter with my interview date and an alternate date was listed. So that's already 2 dates in January and on this thread poeple have mentioned several other dates they interviewed. I am thinking they maybe have 2 a month? And I know they interview late fairly late. At my interview one of the first years said he had interviewed in March. So I wouldn't give up hope yet.

i dunno. it was a big group of people interviewing so it seems like it would take a lot of work to organize that too often.

February 17th! My advisor/friend told me to worry if I don't hear anything by february. 3 days before and it came! WHAOOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm on top of the world. I want to go to UCI really badly, I tell ya!!
