Sorry about the news. I thought it would be good being in the first batch, but so far not so good. Mine will probably be here tomorrow, and now I'm pretty nervous that it could be some real bad news for me too.

UPDATE: Malory in the MSTP office says that committee doesn't meet til early march/end of april for ALL MSTP applicants.
What a disadvantage if we get rejected but still want to go to the medical school.

Don't be nervous! We don't know what else is in this round of decisions. Only a couple of people have heard. By this time last year, several batches of decisions had been released. It could be that they're just lumping all of them together this time. Good luck!

That guy must have been one of the few "highly competative applicants" that the MSTP website tells us they admit early. Its good to know that the MSTP adcom is doing what they tell us they are. Up until I read that I thought they haven't done anything.

About to close up at work, dad and stepmom show up and present me with a scary envelope. Naturally, I shake and cry before even opening it...

I recently got my interview confirmation and have read some of the posts on SDN's interview forum, but they both seem really vague as to how the whole day plays out. Is it only the interview? What happens for the rest of the day?

yea... it's pretty much just the interview + lunch. no meetings or anything. you get a tour with the students and if you have a student interviewer, it'll be during lunch. i had the faculty interview after lunch, but i'm not sure if that's how it is for everyone.

Wow thanks you guys for all your good wishes and congrats's (is that a word)? I know that all of you are in UTTER despair waiting, as was I, but Im sure that if participation on this site is any indication of your drive, you will all hear good news very soon. This has been my DREAM school ever since high school, even probably before. I almost went to USC or UCSD just because I heard a myth that UCLA doesn't take their own for med school.

In terms of reapplicant experience... My undergrad stats for first two years were very low (many C's) and it was in third year that I was able to finally get the A's... Alas, it was too late and in my first app cycle in 2004 there were no interviews and obviously no acceptances even though I had tons of EC and clinical experience.... So I applied to UCLA's RAP (Re-App Program) and did really well there getting straight A's in upper div difficult classes and retook mcat and went up in score. I also did more clinical research, submitted 2 abstracts and last week got one of them accepted for presentation. It is very hard to turn around like that and its been a verrrrry long, verrrrrryyyy hard road for me, but in the end, I felt like I did everything I could and that finally sufficed and I was finally satisfied with myself...

Anyway, I'm babbling again and I wish everyone luck from the very bottom of my heart (I mean from the bottom of my flaming cheeto)....

Even when the final decision is sent, you still have to wait until the letter actually arrives. I am still waiting. Fortunately, I am patient 🙂 ...for now....

Once the status actually changes you start to wonder what the actual decision IS! I think thats worse than actually waiting for the decision change...
