I interviewed at UCLA as an out-of-state resident on January 11th. I had a good interview but the interviewer cautioned me to be in for a long wait. Today, just for kicks, I checked the online status and found that my final letter had been mailed February 1st. What do you think this means? Does anyone else with an interview on or before mine have a final decision letter in the mail also? Thanks.

aiya! i interviewed on 12/19, and no final decision letter yet. that's funny cuz i just called the admissions office this past friday, and the lady told me they haven't mailed out any decision letters yet, and they'll probably get around to it on 2/15. i don't understand this... please keep me updated on your status. and good luck! =)

Derby my letter was recently sent as well. I called Ms. Fober in the admissions off around 2 weeks ago and she told me that they were going to start mailing out decisions around mid February. From my experience the website is always around 4 days faster than the rest of the system.

My UCLA interview went great... I interviewed there first week in December. Good luck!

EEK!! My status says a final decision letter was sent on 2/1 also!!! I hope it is good news... but other people had said that no acceptances were going out until 2/15  I feel like my interview went really well (on 12/13)... so I guess we just all hope this is good news coming early!

There is nothing special about 2/15. If you look back at my ORIGINAL post on all those 'when do we hear from UCLA' I've been saying all along...don't expect to hear anything until February.

I may have at one point said around mid Feb, but that was not a date written in stone. It was based upon something that the admissions office told me. Don't forget that everything is entered in the computer at UCLA about a week before you'll get it....

So hopefully we're in the window. Maybe we should ask if they've started accepting yet....or if they've started rejecting interviewees..

What do you mean that everything is entered a week for it happens. Does this mean that when they say a letter was mailed 2/1 that it won't actually be mailed for a week? That would be weird as they write, "Please allow 5 working days for receipt of any written notifications." at the bottom of the status page. Would they put this if they hadn't actually mailed the letter yet?

Also, I'm curious if all of you are CA residents. In the meantime, I'll be checking my mailbox anxiously and keep you up to date. Good luck.

I said that they enter it into the computer a week before you'll get it...I meant please allow 5 working days to receive whatever the heck they sent!

i'm not a ca resident even tho i've been here for college for the last 4 years... bummer... so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. is it true that ucla tend to take more out of staters than ucsd?

lollipop-

I think so, but once you have an interview at UCLA I believe that %'s of in-state and out-of-state acceptances are the same.

I was under the impression that letters were going out on 2/15 from this post:

•Does anyone know when the UCLA adcom is meeting to decide on the first round of acceptances??•••••So this is "the answer" to your question: the first round will be sent out on 2-15-02. the Nov & Dec interviewees will be informed of the AdCom's decision by then. Deanna(the Admissions Officer)told me that some of the January interviewees may hear something by then too, if not definitely by March 15. One more month of waiting to go !!!!! :D :D •••••??? I guess I should have trusted you from the beginning UCLA2000  You have been saying all along "beginning of Feb."... so if it IS a batch of acceptances in the mail, my apologies for having ever doubted you! :D

I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't have reliable information :)

My earlier response above was exactly (ok, maybe not word for word) what I've been told by an Ad officer on my interview day. Then, about 10 days ago I saw one of the postings on the interviewfeedback webpage who said, he/she received an acceptance letter from UCLA. This put me on pause since the first round of anything was not supposed to come out til 2-15-02. Anyway, so I called the UCLA office to confirm this new finding, and was told that they did send out something in mid/late January. I honestly didn't know what to believe from this point on since I kept getting all these contradicting responses from the "officers". I've reached my own conclusion that they probably are not keeping up-to-date with the Ad committee as we think they should.

In any rate, if you read my last week's response under "UCLA Rejection" posting, you would have known that the school's begun its round already. I just got back from a couple of the East Coast interviews so wasn't able to keep up with the new postings here. Best of luck to you all (oh, to me too :D )...please, keep posting any new findings. I guess I should visit my UCLA status website, ugh.

Hey Patiently - I hope that you don't think that I was attacking the reliability of your post. I am pretty sure that we are all just innocently trying to figure out what the heck is going on!

I figure ad coms are just following in the tradition of AMCAS this year, giving out vague and ever-changing information about the status of our apps
(AMCAS specialist - "you app will be verified withing 2 weeks"
me "that is what you said two weeks ago?!? "
AMCAS "oh, well then, it should not take more that 4-6 weeks total from submission, things are speeding up around here now"
me "but it has been 11 weeks since I submitted my app." )

You would think that they get some kind of sick pleasure out of it :D But seriously, I am sure that they don't mean any harm... the people in the UCLA admissions office were super nice and helpful when I called about the status of my app and when I interviewed.

Lets just hope that there is good news in the mail for all of us!

Jessica,

I wasn't offended. I know the intention of this whole forum. :D :D :D :D :D AND, I 100% agree with you on the super friendliness of all of the UCLA staff/faculty/students I had the pleasure of meeting on my interview day.

I just checked my status to see if any final decision letter was sent to me too, but nada so far. Has anyone received that letter "physically" yet??

I have not gotten mine, but given that fact that it was sent on 2/1, and I am only ~50 miles away, I am HOPING that I will get a BIG envelope tomorrow (please please please don't be a THIN envelope -fingers crossed-.) Either way, I'll post when I get it!

It takes me around 4-5 days to get whatever they send...and I can throw a rock from my balcony and hit UCLA...

I'm hoping to get whatever they sent by Wednesday or Thursday..

Jessica-

Be sure to open all letters you get. I got an acceptance in VERY thin envelopes (i.e.-one page). Best of luck.

UCLA2000-

That's not happy news, being that I am over 3,000 miles from UCLA's doorstep.

Great advice Derby! My Tulane acceptace was only one sheet of paper!

Phone conversation with UCLA admissions office...

Me: "hi how are you doing today?"

Her: "I'm great thanks how can I help you"

Me: "I was actually just wondering if UCLA had sent out its first round of admissions yet..."

Her: "Yes they actually went out last Friday"

Me: "Oh I see...what about the first round of rejections?"

Her: "They are starting to be sent out."

Me: "But they weren't sent out last Friday?"

Her: "No."

Me: " COOL! Thanks."

Her: *laughing at my childlike display* "No problem have a nice day"

well i think that settles that issue pretty nicely.
