I had an older nephrologist initials C.K. he was a super nice guy. i havent seen anyone else on here say they had him, so this certainly does lend itself to the committee theory! good luck everyone, hopefully you will all get good news soon!

haha, yeah im sure my heart will skip a beat when i actually see that a letter has been sent.

oh, i had him! and no status change. so i MUST be getting a WL or rejection. it's taking them long enough. =\
 
My interviewer was a pediatric radiologist, initials I. B. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met, literally. I haven't heard anything yet. :luck: to everbody and congrats to those that have gotten in.
 
to those that were accepted:
when you checked the accepted applicant checklist at the bottom of the page prior to the applicant status page, was there a difference? like did it say somewhere on your checklist that you were accepted?! dang, i checked twice now, aand the committee said that i will find out this week, but they are not telling me! im starting to go crazy

i think that they probably handed otu their acceptances already and now the rest of us are waitlist and rejections!🙁

well you never know. i think there are multiple committees, so maybe just the first committee depends on your interviewer?

Dont think like this! b/c you're making me sad...they cant be done with acceptances...can they???
 
I couldn't bear it so I called... she said they have not made a decision on my application yet but as soon as they do my notification will be mailed. She said it will be sent sometime this week. I'm glad they haven't decided yet! I feel like if they've already decided and I haven't been notified then it would be a wl or rejection. That might be a contorted way of thinking but oh well! However, she later added... definitiely by the end of the month but probably this week. There's only 12 days left in the month so that's not too bad, right? Come on UCLA, if I love you so much you have to love me just a little bit!!
 
anyone have E.J and hear back? He was an internist

i had PH .. still no status update, but i called today and the woman said they should be making a decision this week.

I had C.K. as well and I haven't heard back. I didn't get interviewed until March 6th. I wouldn't give up hope at all, his committee is still meeting! Anyone else have an older guy with initials C.K.?
 
i have a question for those accepted: what exactly does the acceptance letter say? does it say that you have to have a timely response to accept your acceptance?

i ask this because i called again and i told them im going out of town in the next 2 weeks (im going abroad), and would not be able to find out my decision when it is mailed this week. they told me that the decision on my file does not need a timely response....since i know some medical schools require you to respond within 2 weeks of your acceptance, im hypothesizing this is either a rejection or waitlist.....am i analyzing too deep?:scared:

Yeah I think I had the same interviewer (African american? primary care?) I interviewed in Dec and haven't heard a thing. Good luck to you:luck:. I'm actually expecting a W/L or rejection (most likely W/L).

The acceptance letter says you are supposed to write a letter accepting a position in the 2008 class by 2 weeks from the day your acceptance letter has been written. I'm going to send mine in the mail tomorrow. Personally, I don't think the 2 week rule is hard and fast, and I think you can get by with taking a bit longer. I doubt they would exclude a qualified candidate that they presumably want to matriculate because of a possible postal error or something else which might cause a delay in the letter's arrival.

Just to be super safe though, before you leave for your trip, prepare a letter stating that you accept the position, etc. and have it stamped and addressed to the admissions office. Give it to a trusted friend or family member who can put it in the mail as soon as you inform them of your acceptance (which I hope you'll get in the mail very soon 🙂).
 
did anyone get an acceptance letter without having the "letter sent" updated on the website?

Nothing came in the mail today from UCLA----> but you can bet tomorrow I will be bouncing off of the walls once again! Since i live 30 minutes from UCLA, I think it should arrive tomorrow. I will let you all know....:scared::scared::scared::scared:
 
How is it possible that the committee hasn't decided to reject someone yet? What are they waiting for? Why not send the decisions out as they are made...since they are a "rolling" school? Why save rejections / WLs for the end?

i'm seriously going insane... interviewed a long, long time ago... i even spent today outlining a letter of intent (in hopes i don't get a rejection)
 
I interview in Dec. and had PH. She seemed really nice.
 
the assistant director of admissions at Yale posted in the yale thread today to clear up any misconception about their decisions. i wonder if anyone from UCLA is reading this....?????

neuro, i can tell that you, like me, are going crazy about this. I interviewed middle/late February and I can't help but wonder everyday if I'm going to get a letter in the mail. This is insane! Good luck!

haha at this point, crazy is probably an understatement.

So do you guys think they only mail out letters the 15th of every month? Or perhaps every friday?
 
My guess is they'll send out the next set of decisions this Friday. They told me and I think other people too that they would send our decisions by the end of this week.
 
GulabJamoo, they're really nice if you call. They'll look up your file and tell you whether a decision has been made or whether you're out to committee and when to expect a letter. :luck::luck::luck::luck:

so i called-- mid nov interview, they said no decision yet, and that they send out decisions around the 15th of each month, so i should hear by april 15th.

ARGH so tired of waiting.
 
My interviewer had initials JJ. Super sweet lady.

Still waiting....
 
i called, and they said i'll get a decision in 1-2 weeks. But i've been getting this same response since mid-february.

they said the "committee is behind schedule."

but i think it's so unfair that friends who interviewed 2 weeks ago have already been admitted, and i have yet to receive a decision months after interviewing.

so they told you the 15th of each month but have been telling other people that they will get their letters mailed out this week or by the end of march?????? 😕😕
