UCLA letters sent out--Check Status Page

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
so they told you the 15th of each month but have been telling other people that they will get their letters mailed out this week or by the end of march?????? 😕😕

Exactly why i'm confused. I was told by the end of this month.

But then again, how do the office staffers know when the committee will make a decision on a particular application? Alls they know is whether or not the application is in the office or not, and whether or not a decision has been made.

Omg I Just Got A Status Change!

Letter Sent 3/18/2008

holy crap, status change letter sent 3/18...omg im so scared...has anybody gotten rejections / waitlists? if not, i bet im the first one

Ahhhh!! status change 3/18!! And I'll be out of town for a week so I won't be able to find out! Does anyone NOT have a change??

I have a letter sent also. I have a BAAAAAD feeling about this, guys.

Let's hope I'm wrong, but they gotta sendn out WL/Rejections sometime....

i have a really bad feeling about this too

but on the other hand, they need to send out enough acceptances by march 30...

Apparently, my transcript was sitting in my file without having been updated on my status page

= I was rejected, so they figured no point in updating?

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Letter sent today!!!!

im starting to think this is the first batch of waitlists/rejections

too many ppl have the status change

damn, STILL no status change for me =(

s3park or bruinator: did you guys get a status change?

change for me too!!! though she told me like 10 minutes ago that there was no decision.(she did say, "we send out decisions around the 15th of each month, and I don't know if they have gone out yet this month. If they have and you haven't received anything, you'll find out around april 15th")

probably WL or rejection. and i'm going out of town tomorrow. sigh. but at least there will be and end to this waiting very very soon.....i guess if i check SDN while i'm gone, i'll have a good idea of what it might be. 😛

so if most you get bad news from UCLA are you going to UCSD (if you've gotten in... which several of you have)?

I got a status change too! Anybody with the 3/18 status change in SoCal? :luck: everbody!

has anybody who had interviewer n.n. (older guy neurologist) not had a status change?

A LOT of people with status changes. At this rate, our only hope is that they sent out a batch of WL, Rejections, AND acceptances.

:scared:

wow everytime i refresh this thread there's like 5 new responses haha

lovin the enthusiasm!

yeah, i'm very happy with UCSD 🙂

ooh i hope someone in SoCal gets a letter today and lets us know 😉 and hopefully it's good news??

I live in so Cal and have a status change. I think I will get it by 1 today.

Hi everybody!

This is my first post. I'm soooo nervous. just got a status change too dated 3/18. I nearly puked because it was so unexpected. After so much waiting, I never really expected it to change

Have hope guys! It's really depressing to read that this might be the first batch of wl/rejections. Hopefully it's not and that a whole bunch of us are getting accepted! They have to send them out sometime, right? Must think positively.

I'm in SoCal so my letter should arrive soon :scared:

:luck: Good luck guys! I'll be checking this thread super often now...(and shunning the paper and final I should be studying for..ahhhhhh!!!!)

Stop with the "it must be bad news" already. It's not healthy thinking!

Wow Status Change For Me Too!!!!!!!!!! Gl Everyone The Moment Has Arrived!

welcome to the UCLA madness koolbeenz! do you remember who your interviewer was?

I had NN and I did have a status change.

It is almost definitely a mix of acceptances, waitlists, and rejections, because they have not filled their class size yet. More acceptances must have been put in this batch to attempt to offer as many acceptances as they have seats (per AAMC guidelines).

I live in so Cal and have a status change. I think I will get it by 1 today.

As will I. I live in Riverside, an hour out from LA.

I don't WANT to be negative, but for every person that chimes in with their status page, it makes me lose more and more hope.

I do, however, think that it's a whole batch of all sorts of decisions.

I agree with this and with what RPedigo said. It's got to be a mix, but I'm sure a lot of them have to be waitlists/rejections as none have been reported thus far.

Is there anyone else out here WITHOUT a status change still???

Commence waiting for you guys to receive your letter!

when i saw that letter sent 3/18, i blanked and only now just remember that the 18th was YESTERDAY...i wonder if the letter will make it to my mailbox in norcal today...aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

i JUST called the adcom and this is what they said:

committees are sending out letters within the next couple of weeks, so keep checking your status page. these letters will be MIX of waitlist, rejection and acceptance.

keep your hopes up, guys! good luck to everyone. (but especially to me, jk.)

Must stay positive. Even though the number of people who got a status change dated yesterday is quite large, that doesn't mean everyone is going to get a WL/rejection. Maybe they made us wait so long because they've been preparing all the acceptances for everyone who has been interviewed so far? Or maybe they just had a committee deadline last week so all the committees had to make their decisions, and the people who already got accepted just had committees that were super-efficient...

Is there anyone out there who hasn't got a status change on the website?

Hmmmm... Maybe those of you that got the status change and go to UCLA for undergrad could pay them a visit and ask them what the decision was?

I know they don't do it over the phone for security reasons, but maybe they would do it in person?

wow, i posted last night, and by this morning this thread seriously blew up! i havent had a status change yet even though i confirmed twice that my letter was supposed to come to me this week. i even went in person, and they would not tell me my decision, they just said wait.

RPedigo: in your MD apps, it says you already got accepted into UCLA? or is that the drew program and your waiting on geffen?

to all those that have status changes, good luck! when will mine and Neurofreak's come!🙁

edit* actually i just checked and status change 3/18/08!!!!! i really really really really really really hope its not a WL/rejection. or at least not a rejection, but most hopefully an acceptance!

RPedigo: in your MD apps, it says you already got accepted into UCLA? or is that the drew program and your waiting on geffen?

I've been accepted to the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider program, it's a program for UCR students only. So basically, I can already go to UCLA with the science years at UCR and the clinicals at UCLA. The degree is the same as if I had gone to the DGSOM at UCLA for all four years.

From the website:
Each year, the Admissions Committee admits up to 24 highly qualified students from the applicant pool (which is restricted to UCR undergraduate students and alumni). Those students then complete the first two years (the "Basic Science" years) of their medical education on the UCR campus under the direction of the Biomedical Sciences faculty and more than 80 community-based physicians who provide clinical instruction, mentoring, and other guidance.

At the end of these first two years, students take the USMLE Step 1 exam and then move on to UCLA for two years of clinical rotations and electives. This is a seamless transition. There is no additional application process.

At the completion of studies, these students receive their M.D. degrees from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
