So what's the deal with the waitlist?? There's a ranked and an unranked one?? Which one is better? Also, how many people usually come off the waitlist??

this is sad, but this thread is my only source of entertainment right now, somebody post something about how desperate they are already, I'm getting tired of waiting!!!!

Did you have a status change today? I'm a little glad this thread is lagging. It gives me an opportunity to study.

First off, major CONGRATS to LadyDoc!!! I'm happy that at least someone on this thread got some good news today 😀😀

As for me, still no status change! How about you, bruinator? I'm really not sure what to make of this blank status page at this point. I am worried that I may be part of the "ranked waitlist" or the "rejected list" or whatever they call it, considering that people today seem to have gotten the "unranked" list.

I'm just praying i don't get a rejection so I still have some chance..

Wow, this week has sucked so far lol...

Don't think like that neurofreak. It probably means that they are still reviewing your application, and that is probably a good thing!
 
I don't think it means you already got rejected...I think they just may not have gotten to everyone. Remember, mine changed on an odd ball day-- im rooting for you guys...:clap:

i was celebrating...then a sudden wave of incredible exhaustion came over me midway into my yummy drink!! i think i've been really tense the past few days...but i will keep celebrating through the weekend...and hoping for everyone who is waiting!
 
I need to stay optimistic, otherwise I'd crumble into an emotional mess. Reading "oh I must be waitlisted or rejected" comments really depress me, so I refrain from writing them. Nothing is for sure until we each get our own decision, right? 😀

neuro & bruin, keep your heads up! at this point in the game, there's really no way to confidently interpret a "delayed" change in status. it could be good or bad depending on your perspective. so stay positive!

im probably getting a wl just like eveyrone who had a status change today. bleh.
 
i found the route that the mail man takes. i'm gonna hunt him down tomorrow at 11AM.

I don't want to dream about UCLA tonight. Frankly, I want to stop thinking about it altogether. That would be a relief. Hopefully I'll have closure tomorrow. Unless it's a waitlist. Then I'll have to wait even more.
 
after spending an entire night speculating, and based on last year's thread, i'm sure that this batch is going to be a mixture of waitlists/holds/rejections. the pattern matches exactly to last year's cycle. There should be another batch sent out at the end of March, which will be comprised of more acceptances, in order to meet the March 30th AAMC deadline. 🙁🙁🙁

What's the point of speculating? If you're so sure this batch is going to be a WL/rejection, then relax. Worrying won't change the decision now.

Lol. I was actually thinking that last night. I imagined words shifting and disappearing and appearing on the paper that's already in the mail. It could happen...

ranked is the hold list- this is bad

unranked is the good list - you want to be on this one.

Im not certain about this ( and Im probably going to eat my words today ) but almost everyone who got a march 18th status change should be an unranked waitlist. the much worse news should come a little later ( Holds / Rejects ). This is according to what has happened in the past.

Thanks thelonqproject! And I just called Admissions to tell them I'm out of town, ask if there's time-sensitive material in my letter, and to see if they would tell me anything. A guy with an accent answered (possibly british?) and asked for my AMCAS, put me on hold, and then said he can't tell me anything over the phone. I hope that doesn't mean I'm rejected and he didn't want to tell me! : ( Oh well... I guess I have to wait a week! Maybe if I call back later and get someone else they will tell me. I don't want to be pushy though!!

Hey all,

I just called right now and I asked the lady, "What kind of decisions were made for those with status changes on 3/18?" I don't think I could have been clearer.

Her reply was, " All kind of decisions, including acceptances, waitlist, holds and rejections" were sent out.

Now, again, I'm not sure if UCLA is LYING to my face but I hope this gives some of us out there expecting bad news a smidgen of hope.

Now excuse me while I go drink some fluids to wash away my hangover 🙁

You just gave me some hope. Although I can never take anything they tell me over the phone seriously, especially when it's this kind of sensitive information. Hopefully they were telling the truth.
 
I JUST got the letter (well my mom did). It's so stupid. You have to let them know whether you want to be considered in their unranked W/L. Doesn't make much sense. At least now I can move on with my life, and from this thread and i guess finally from Los Angeles smog.😀 Best of luck to the rest of you waiting:luck:

AGHH today will bring the closure I may or may not be wanting. I won't get to go home until later this afternoon, but I'll post ASAP!

Ok, so maybe only 1% of the letters are acceptances, 98% are WL, and 1% are rejections. That would explain why no one has reported an acceptance (or rejection) yet. :scared:

if its not really a mixed batch - if all of us get waitlisted, i say we should call out the UCLA office of admissions out on their lies
