So I applied to 16 schools, but my top 4 are UCLA, UT Houston, UF, and UW based on the locations (these are places I would want to live). I'm an Illinois resident, and I know these schools are very OOS-unfriendly (especially the WICHE ones), but do I even have a remote chance of getting an interview?

Stats:
GPA BCP = 3.69
GPA Overall = 3.74
DAT: 24 AA, 22 PAT
Shadowing: 100 hours
Volunteer: About 100 hours
I've also done research for a little over a year

I think you have a good chance for an interview at all of them.

I think UF is something like 90% in-state. Your stats look great so you could have a shot of being interviewed to fill the 10% OOS spots.

Houston reported their general OOS enrollment over time as "0%"...so, there's that. Houston is probably the worst Texas dental school for OOS applicants.

And the best for ISS.😀

Probably not at UTSD. However, there was one OOS individual at my interview last cycle. This individual had already been living in TX for 6 months prior to the interview.

Not entirely true.

Thanks everybody for your insightful replies!

What about for UCLA? I know they take some out of staters, but are those OOS also usually from WICHE states?

Meh, I don't think you're out of the running of you are not WICHE.
