umm yeah ucla is pretty damn good. if you break schools down into their components: curriculum, grading system, faculty, prestige, location, atmosphere, etc, you would be hard pressed to find many schools that can beat ucla.

You know nothing. UCLA has no grades either, Stanford's class is bigger than 70 so they obviously accept more than that, the faculties and prestige of the medical schools are similar (they are 1 apart on research ranking, UCLA is 12 spots higher on med center ranking). You are a premed noob.
 
i wouldnt go to ucla if they offered me a million bucks, after free tuition with a guaranteed slot to any residency slot i want paid at 2x the average resident salary, with a free meal plan at the undergrad dining hall.

eh, figured i might as well change it now since i'm going to try and kick this SDN forum addiction when school starts.

and i do NOT agree that UCLA is better than everyone else. it was just the best place for me. needed a change.

i just wish UTSW and Baylor would get with the program and become pass/fail. it makes the student life SO much better. other than that, i think you can't have a convo about the best schools in the country without throwing a little Tejas in there. i mean, the grandeur of the texas medical center alone... jesus... don't get me started... lol

UCLA's letters of distinction and AOA are based on board scores, and the letters you get from attendings during rotations.

you are going to try hard on the boards anyways, and i have heard that residency directors like to know how you do on your rotations. not that big of a deal in my opinion.

why did you apply to its post bac program? you should withdraw. other students would love the chance to attend it. and don't apply there for med school again. save your money and glorify other schools and cities you "like."
 
everyone knows UCLA is a fallback for cali people who couldn't get past "real" admission standards at ucsf & ucsd.
 
i love how these 20+ year olds act when it comes to med schools. "no my school is better than yours" "nah ah, mine is better". Good entertainment! Continue... I'd like to know if the person who started the thread will actually attend/been accepted to UCLA med.

Go UCSD!! the only uc that has a legitimate admission process with no preference for urm's or urm programs like UCLA.

Didn't you know? Baylor tried P/F back in 2004 for the first semester. People got lazy and weren't doing as well when they had to go back to regular grading systems in later blocks. Students didn't like it at the TIME, but most felt better about it in the long run.

So doesn't it make you feel like **** to know that if an admissions committee knew you were saying this, you wouldn't get accepted anywhere/ they might revoke your acceptence??
