I just realized that if I knew it was in the mail and nothing could change the contents of the letter that I might call them. I have yet to break my code to not be annoying to offices of admissions. UCLA waitlist letter may break that.

I AM tempted to call but I kinda already know what it is (I hope) since I was a UCLA undergrad and my URSA account has a link to "Accept Offer of Admission to David Geffen...." I'm trying to keep composed though since I won't believe ANYTHING unless I see it in writing! This would be great but I kinda have my heart set on UCSF....although I absolutely LOVE LA!!!!!!!! 😍

I just sent in my "Waitlist Acceptance Letter" along w/ a performance eval. from work (since this was my only update). I didn't make the letter a LOIntent but merely suggested my continued "interest" in their school. Hope this helps~ 👍

As for financial aid, I am pretty sure that UCLA has more funding to give ppl on need-based financial aid just b/c they have more personal contributions/grants given to them from alumni, benefactors, etc.

Really? Hands-down? I would contemplate it for awhile at least. I picked LA over UCSF JMP (w/very large scholarship plus stipend)! They both have positives/negatives...although probably for most SF would win.
Good luck everyone. I withdrew last week , so hopefully that opens up a spot for someone. As far as the money thing goes, UCLA ended up being my one of my most expensive options. However, it is still well worth the money being that its such a great school.

hey guys honestly write an LOI (i believe it worked for my case)... also send in an extra Letter of Rec (a strong one!)... bug the hell out of the admissions committee (not to the point of insanity lol)... just show continued interest and your name will be stuck in their heads!

An LOI is a letter telling them how you love the school, why you'd be a great fit, why they should accept you, etc. You should definitely write one if UCLA is your top choice. And yes, it's a great idea to send in any new grades/LORs/publications/etc. to the committee. Good luck!wcryan said:

Hmmm if I remember correctly, someone else on this thread awhile back was in your same spot, and did have their URSA page change over. But you never know, UCLA could have simply plugged that leak like they did to the one that allowed some of us to see our acceptance letter on the webpage before we even got it. Just got to stick it out and keep your fingers crossed!

Hey, that sounds like me you're talking bout. Former UCLA undergrad, got my "letter for recruitment day" on status page, logged into URSA a few days later for a pleasant surprise.
Now time for waitlisters pleasant surprise: I'm withdrawing my acceptance at UCLA to go to Columbia. Makes me sad really, but I've been at UCLA for a while now, trying something new just to give myself a good kick.

Does anyone know how often the committees at UCLA are meeting to decide on W/L candidates? Or are we ranked at this point just being pulled off the list?
If we are ranked will they tell us or give us a good reason why we cannot plan around our projected chances?

I called the office today and spoke with Deanna (she's so nice!). I asked if she knew when my committee would be meeting to consider pulling people off of the waitlist. She said there is actually a seperate committe that just goes though the waitlist to offer people acceptances (who are these mysterious people with so much power??? 
)
It sounds like more people will be let off soon- perhaps next week?

**edit** never mind. i reread the entire thing again in analness and found that there was somebody who was pulled off the unranked list. duuuuuurnit!! 🙁 it wasn't me.
so I interviewed really late (4/26) and haven't heard back at all. I figured they would wait until after May 15th and just give me a plain yes or no and not mess with the waitlist. Would I get reviewed by this same committee that specifically reviews the waitlisters?

hey guys, the "official...got off a WL" thread says three people got into UCLA/UCR! and one of them said they got called! i wonder whether i should sleep with my phone by my side... 😴 (or at least under my pillow for good luck)
