For what semester are you applying to? They are not accecpting Fall 05' applications until the beginning of the year. If you are talking about having applied for Spring 05', they only accecpt about 1 or 2 students in the spring, so if your out of state the chances are slim.

I have applied for the Fall 2005 entrance, but have already interviewed along with 5 other students.
You mean its not a waitlist but just a hold?

The dean mentioned though that we would receive a decision by December 20th, and that's when I got this "on hold" letter.

Thanks for answers!

I'm confused by your post, sorry. Let me explain my understanding:

I was told by the dean and the admissions secratary that the post-bacc program does not begin accecpting applications for the Fall 05' semester (August) until January 05', and that the Fall deadline is April 1 05'. The spring 05' semester deadline is October 1 of the previous year, 04', with the semester beginning in March 05' (these deadlines are also listed on the website).

I assumed you were appling for Spring 05', since you said you were expecting to hear back on a decision in sometime this month, which would make sense if you were starting in March. Also from the comment about interviewing with only 5 other students, knowing myself that in the spring semester they only interview a few people and take 1-2, so that is why I asked.

Now you could also be part of some circumstance of which I am not aware, or FOS. Maybe you applied and were denied admission for the Spring and by default you get considered automatically for the Fall if you get interviewed, I dont know? 😕

Please explain, and out of curiousity, when and which program did you apply (A or B)?

Beanie? Any comments? Correct me if I'm wrong!
Thanks!

sorry for the confusion.
Let me clarify everything:
I applied for the Fall 2005 Post baccalaureat program, and not for the spring 2005. I don't graduate until May 2005.
the 5 other students who were interviewed had also applied for the Fall 2005 post-baccalaureate program.
Also, I applied for the 1 year program for students who already have a science background. My GPA is 3.92, but my MCAT score is weak.
I'm pretty sure though that they are reviewing applications now.
Thanks for your feedback!! 😍

Thats odd, it says right from the website and I quote:

Qualifications:
To apply, a student must have completed a baccalaureate degree program from an accredited college or university

Therefore, if you are not graduating until May 2005, how is it possible that you've already applied and been interviewd for the fall 2005 when the application deadline (April 1) is prior to your graduation?

I know I was told once by the academic dean and once by the admissions director that they are not accecpting applications for fall 2005 until January and that after the April deadline is when interview invites are handed out. Therefore, based on what admissions is telling everyone, January is the earliest applications will be accecpted and when all prospective applicants will be applying (which is probably why no one besides meself has replied to your origional post).

I also saw you provided interview feedback for UCONN, was that for the medical school interview? Because you also posted in the "low GPA" thread that you were "applying" to the UCONN and UPENN post-bacc programs and wanted more information, wheras here you are stating you've already applied and interviewed. If so, what other information would you need? If you've already visited the campus and interviewd with students/professors was that not enough for you to make an educated decision😕

I'm allergic to fish 👎

I did provide interview feedback for Uconn, but that was for the postbac. Also, I think you might be confusing me with another user, because I have not posted in the other areas you mentioned. And I am NOT applytin to the Upenn post bac and I have not posted in the low GPA thread (in fact my GPa has always been quite high 🙂 .
Perhaps you should check the usernames careully.
Also, my post about Uconn was to get feedback from users who have been i the program (how they liked it, etc because I have other choices looking pretty positive) and to see who else is applying and if they've heard.

What I was told about Uconn was that the applciant must hve a degree PRIOR to the matriculating semester and not prior to applying. As I far as I am concerned, they have already interviewed several applicants for the fall 2005 so you might want to call and check with someone directly and more recently. Also, they could be simply reviewing people now and holding their applications until january, which might explain why they put them on "hold."

Thanks!

Sorry, I meant I did not post in there for a low GPA and that I was not applying for Upenn.
Any new news? This entire process is driving me nuts!

Yes the new news is that I personally contacted admissions any they confirmed/assured that NO ONE was interviewd prior to the April 1 deadline for Fall 2005 admission (pm me if you want a copy of the email).

So, that makes you a LIAR! But then again, that was old news
😴

Thank you for response/information, the begining of this thread made me nervous (I am also applying to the Fall '05 program and am patiently awaiting response). Good Luck to everyone! 🙂

why would I lie about interviewing? Anyways, that's not my problem, all I'm concerned with is my personla application...hey, maybe it's a good thing that they called me to inteview early.... :meanie:

Now I'm curious. Passion, how did you interview early? They are very upfront with not interviewing until after Apr1. And correct if I'm wrong, but don't they only consider candidates who already have a bacc degree completed? So when you interviewed with them, you were/are still an undergrad right? It is a mute point now b/c it's Apr1, but I would have liked an early interview/accept/reject as well, just as most everyone applying to the program. So again, how did you manage to get one, despite adcoms policy?

Have you read this whole thread? I too have contacted admissions, who too stated "No students will be interviewd or have been interviewd who have applied for Fall 2005 until after April 1."

You know, I have not even received an e-mail saying that they received all my information. I called last week, and they said that they would not know until this week. But I have not even received an e-mail.

Well, I am not a resident. So I really dont think I will be getting in. But I already go into UPenn special science.
We will see though!

cya everyone!

I'm with you. Admissions keeps things pretty tight. We'll know something in the next week or so. I applied for Program A. Regardless A or B - only 15 spots available.

Good Luck! 👍

Hey Riceman,

I'm outta state as well. Admissions told me they do play a pref to the local scene, but I think an out-of-stater with a good gpa, good ec, and strong lors has a solid 3-4% chance of getting in  I've crunched the numbers and this is what I came up with: 200+ total applicant pool for 12-15 total spots for A and B. Most going to the locals (understandably so for a state school - gotta take care of your own 1st). So let's go ahead and say 10 for CT residents and 5 for the rest. This gives me my 3-4%. But if you get an interview, which is approx. 30 people, your chances for acceptance gets a nice bump. This is all just specualtion on my part. I don't know, or even pretend to know, what admissions is thinking.

Good Luck! 👍

That is odd, when did you apply? I know I was complete (with all LOR's, transcripts, etc.) in January, and received an e-mail from admissions letting me know I was offically complete. Maybe by the time you were complete all the files were with the committee? Who knows...talk to Tricia.

I know I've read the 12-15 stat also. However, that is with both A, B AND the URM arm of the program, not just A and B. Talk about small chances! However, I could have sworn that I saw a post by someone who was admitted last year saying their class was around 20 or so. Hopefully that trend carries over!

In any event,

:luck:

Good point about URM. I thought they were considered URM but in program A or B.
20 students? Sounds good to me. I'll make a note that my chances dramatically improved to 5%. AHHH...I feel much better now

Hey Riceman -

I received an e-mail from Tricia Avolt saying my application was complete a few weeks after I turned everything in. I'm not sure why you haven't heard. Perhaps b/c we are at the 4/1 deadline and now they will just let people know where they stand with the mail-out.

How dumb of us to doubt that you are telling the truth. We should have known admissions was lying all along! They obviously are trying hard to cover up the obvious fact that every year they selectively choose to interview early the 5 highest qualified, out of state applicants who were brilliant enough to apply before January (the date that admissions tells all of the other 200 or so less observant , in state applicants it is OK to apply). Curses😡, and to think you were given the coveted "on hold" letter? Whatever could that mean? Did they interview you in Farmington or at some secret location? (I heard the rapper 50 cent has a house in Farmington, maybe that is their secret location?).

Get lost.

I've heard a rumor of this super secret place as well for those select few. Say it ain't so :scared: I guess I should recalculate my chances. Let's see here...I originally thought maybe 5 spots would be open to the out of staters but I guess Passion and her chosen few took those spots. So I guess that basically leaves me with a 0% chance, but I'm going to be nice to myself and say I got at least a 0.00025% chance. Thanks a bunch 😡

Maybe they assumed that I was applying in the Spring and then realised they made a mistake because like I said before, the application is on hold and is being reviewed in the spring(now). but I think making such a mistake is highly unlikely. I am from out of state, so maybe they make exceptions while considering the time it would take to travel down there?
by the way, if you must have a bacc., then technically you can't apply unitl May when gradaution ceremonies are held, but that would be too late to begin the Fall program!
This whole thing is odd. It does say in their terms and policy that they reserve the right to change their admissions policies....I say stick with what the administration tells you. I did:they called me for an interview, I went down, and now I'm waiting. I hope this helps you guys and doesn't alarm any of you! You will all be fine! Good Luck!

Listen guys,
I would appreciate it if this thread was discontinued. I started it initially only because I was worried when I got that letter from the program and believed that other people, perhaps those student that I had interviewed with, had probably heard or gotten similar letters. I do not appreciate being called a liar, and I don't appreciate the negative, unprofessional and rude sarcasm. This is a public forum, where people must communicate maturely and with respect to one another to provide help or guidance, or simply information. Some of you need to check your motives for posting on SDN, and think about what you say to people you don't even know. I will handle my questions regarding Uconn directly with them.
Please do not post any more replies on this thread.

Passion -

It sounds like at least a couple have it in for you. Regardless, I can only speak for myself. I jumped in on this post out of curiosity and to see what's happening with the other potential candidates. I know my comments were said jokingly. I'm not really worried - it will either happen or not. I feel like I'm a pretty strong candidate, but it is not up to me and I can't do anything about it now. We are all in the same boat now riding the clueless wave until they notify us. I hope it turns out good for everyone. I don't think this post will die just yet. I'm hoping in the next week or so that we will all post we received an interview 👍
Anyhow, good luck and apologies 😉

I turned my app. on March 15th!
I called today (yesterday April 4th) to find out what's going on and they told me that the Keat guy is reviewing applications now. I applied for the Minority and program B.
So now I am wondering what's going on.

Well we will see!
