UCs are competitive D: I'm looking up msar data as an OOS applicant, but I was wondering if there were any UCs that are more worth looking into over others? Do only rockstar applicants have a shot?

Depends all on your stats and ec's. The UC's you should NOT look into are UC Davis and UC Riverside.

if you think you´re competitive at any school, you´ll be competitive at sf la or sd. Sf explicitly told us in state out of state didnt matter during our interview day.

I honestly don't know the voodoo that occurs at CA schools. Applied to all UCs as an IS applicant, comfortably above the stats for all of them and only got one II at UCSF. By my reasoning they really have no in state bias, may as well try because somebody gets in after all.

Totally random, I say go for it regardless. I have heard of people who had multiple acceptances at top 20 programs and not a single II at a UC. On the other hand, I have had friends who claimed their app was average, not a single II at another top 20 accept for one or two at a UC and got in.

If by your reasoning you mean they explicitly state on their websites that they do not have In-state bias, then yes, you're right lol.

I wasn't sure if Northstate was worth applying to?

Edit: Northstate***! Thanks for the correction 🙂

It's difficult for me to log into MSAR atm, mostly because it's like 25 degrees-lol. Anyway, the competitive UCs accept a pretty wide range of scores, which helps explain why so many high stat applicants are rejected by these schools. If you have stellar ECs and/or a compelling story you might as well try if your stats are decent i.e. somewhere within their spectrum.

IIRC, UCSF, UCSD, and UCLA officially have no in-state preference so being OOS "technically" will not hurt you (though in reality, you probably are slightly disadvantaged because of yield protection reasons).

The fact that the school is a UC doesn't mean it's harder to get into than similar non-UC schools (here, similar = top 20 schools for UCLA/UCSD and top 10 schools for UCSF).

Northstate: it is the only for-profit MD school in the country. It is not a UC. Many would question the use of the word university in their name.
They have chosen not to make federally insured student loans available to their students.

CSU Northridge is a perfectly respectable State University, btw.

I don't know how OOS friendly they are lol we shall see this upcoming cycle. Because of Gyngyn's blessing, I am applying :xf::xf::luck::bucktooth::idea:

If you're OOS, I can only recommend applying to any of the UC schools if your stats are stellar (> 3.6 GPA and 35+ MCAT)

I can't recommend CNU, period.
