Wow, I still haven't heard back from them. I interviewed on January 21st, morning interview session. Has anyone from this interview group hear back yet? It seems like a lot of people have been accepted already. 🙁

Interviewed on 2/4 and received rejection letter today in So Cal.

Anyone else still waiting to hear back? I interviewed on Jan 22nd and haven't heard anything bac 🙁.

Still waiting from my interview on the 5th. It's horrible. After the interview they said we should hear back by the end of the month, which is Monday! But then the email said we should hear back by mid/end of March..

Still nothing. Anyone received anything this wk?

I received my acceptance letter yesterday (wed., 3/2) in central California.
It was dated 2/23, and posmarked 2/28.

Now that I've been accepted to both usc and ucsd, I am really torn... 😕

Wow, I'm from central California as well, but still waiting to hear back.

I've also been accepted to USC and now that I've been thinking about USC so much lately it might be my first choice after all 😛

Dear fellow SDNers,
I have some questions that I hope somebody can answer.
1- What does a financial aid package that UCSD Pharm School offers look like?
2- Will new PharmD students get any scholarships/fellowships or mainly loans?
3- Is there anyway for me to see my financial aid package before sending the official response for admission?
4- I read somewhere that they give priority for on-campus housing to newly accepted students. But there are currently ~125 people on the waitlist. How can we secure a room in one of those on-campus apartments for grad students?
Please help. Thanks a lot!

Yeah I still haven't heard back from the school. But it seems like they are still sending acceptances...

Good luck! I believe the last day to send out acceptance letter is March 17th. That's what I heard on the interview day. So still couple more weeks left!

Yay..Finally got my acceptance letter in the mail today and I'm from NorCal. I'm definitely attending here..

Got an acceptance today. Interviewed on the 4th...

Got my acceptance today too!!! I WILL be attending!! 😀

I interviewed on 2/5 and I have not received anything from UCSD. I have interviewed at the following schools:

UOP - Accepted
UCSD - waiting
WSU - waiting
Purdue University - waiting

I wish that these schools would let me know so I know how to plan. This waiting is killing me.:scared:

Got a letter from UCSD yesterday, I'm ACCEPTED! Woo!

Oh god ucsd or usc....:scared:

Anyone else who had to make this decision have any insight as to why you decided either way?

Wow! That's awesome! Congrats on both your acceptances. It seems like a lot of people are debating over USC or UCSD. Good luck with your decision!

Yeah, I actually just turned down an interview at USC. Already accepted at UCSD and waiting to hear back from UCSF. But I'm from out of state, and I've never been a fan of the LA area. But it'll all good, I'll be happy in San Diego if that's where I end up! 🙂 Good luck to everyone.

Congrats on your acceptance! Either UCSD or UCSF, you're choosing from two great institutions and I'm positive you'll be happy with either one! Good luck with everything!

This is how we were when my wife got her letters :soexcited: then :highfive: then :barf:

One yes is great. Two is an ulcer.

You can read the post I made the other day about my wife , UCSD, and USC. Basically, My wife is a bit more interested in a school that has ... sprit I guess. At the same time, it is not like she is a sports fan in any way. She does not even know what a "down" is, much less how many are in American football. It is more about getting a good position once she graduates. That said, UCSD is just too good to pass up. Location. Location. Location. I'm interested in your feedback.

mostly it is 😱 when it comes to the student loan bill.

Ah boo, just got the letter from UCSD today, Alternate List...but I guess it's better than being rejected. Come on people....go to UCSF....

Received Alternate List letter yesterday (3/12) but letter was dated (3/9). I live in NorCal. In the letter, it said that offers have been sent out to fill the 60 spots already!

I'm sure they've filled those 60 slots already, but within those 60, I'm sure there are people who have been accepted to other schools as well and won't be attending UCSD. SF is SD's main competitor for students, so as soon as students have confirmed their acceptances to SF (or another school), then SD can start pulling people off the wait list. But as the letter states, the deadline for students who have been accepted to both SF and SD is April 8th, so people on the wait list might not hear back until after that. I'm sure the wait list is not that long since SD knows that they won't have trouble filling up their class, so we have to stay positive.

Yes, what you've just said was in the letter. I'm crossing my fingers for the other schools!

Well, I interviewed at UCSD and I was surprised to get an interview. I got denied on Friday. I am from Indiana and I did not think I had much of a chance with UCSD being a state school and only having 60 seats. I was grateful for the interview and I am glad to have had the experience. Best of luck to everyone.

I interviewed at UCSD on Jan.21 and was accepted last week. I ended up deciding to go to USC, and sent my letter into UCSD a couple of days ago from Colorado. So good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

I'm also going to end up declining UCSD because I was accepted into UCSF. Good luck to anyone who happened to be on a waitlist!

Hey does anyone know how many people UCSD keeps on their waitlist? Also, about how many usually make it off the waitlist?...I am on the waitlist and it sucks because I dont know where I am on the waitlist and so I dont know how much hope I have....

Same here, I'm waiting.
I called SD yesterday. They said they cannot tell us the size of the wait list and that the class is already full, but can open up.

has anyone on here actually made it off the waitlist yet?

Anyone hear from UCSD off the waitlist?

For the people who were choosing between USC and UCSD. Did you make a decision yet? I can't decide myself.

I went to UCSD for undergrad so I want to go somewhere new. But ucsd has cheaper tuition, smaller class size (so more individualized attention), pass/fail system (less competition), and they claim that more of their students go on to do residencies for clinical practice or research. which is what i want to do.

Some pros I hear about usc is the networking though. But is it really that much better? Anyone know if it's worth picking USC for the networking? Also, I don't want to end up working in LA. Not a fan of LA traffic.
AHHHHH.

My wife was accepted to both. Because of student housing, cost, and location we went with UCSD. I was very pro SD. Simplified... both are good schools, but USC is costly, and hours a day would be spent traveling.

I would be fairly sure that you could get a job outside of LA with a USC PharmD. If you would like to read my thread on this topic here it is:

Congrats to everyone who got accepted for Fall 2011!

I am applying for Fall 2012 admission and was wondering if anyone who got admitted would be willing to share their stats to see how I compare? Thanks!

So is SD continuing to keep their pharmacy+ medical students classes for this upcoming fall? I heard that they want to get rid of that... Can anyone confirm? Thanks! Are there any current SD students that can share insight if they like that aspect of the curriculum?

Yes, they are still keeping classes with medical students. But I'm not sure if they will get rid of it in near future

anyone hear from the waitlist?

I'm applying to Skaggs this upcoming June, but I was wondering why the class ratios are so skewed. It's nearly 80% females and only 20% males??
I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining about it. Just curious.

That's the ratio of people who are actually applying to pharmacy school. It's more close to 65% female and 35% male I would say (someone can correct me on that), but with so little sample size, its not hard for UCSD to get 80% female and 20% male. This is due to a number of factors (females wanting to have a life and raise a family, males going for medical school instead of pharmacy school, etc.).
