UCSD extension, UC Berkeley extension courses

Have you guys done any online courses and got accepted to dental schools? If so, how many?

I am thinking about taking more courses through one of the extension program.

I like to take Immunology and Pharmacology.

Is that a good idea? Btw I have a MS degree.

I took the Biochem through UC Berk Extension. and they accepted it. I feel like it was okay not as thorough as it could have been but informative

I took immunology and biochem to cal extension. No issues.

Of course I'm not yet accepted to any dental school. Very few schools require biochem but none of them as told me anything.

I should say for both courses I took in person. I believe though you have to option of doing it online with in person exams.

I personally would take classes in person vs online classes unless you really can't help it.


Those two classes are just electives. You don't necessarily have to take it to get accepted into dental school. But if you want more science classes and that's the only option, then do is what is most convenient for you. Good luck!

I had a similar question about taking courses online at UC Berkeley. Do you have to be present at the school for the final exam? How would that work?

No, you can go to proctored testing sites; there are many around the country.

You think UCB has a site in Los Angeles? I just emailed them, so they will probably give me an answer. Would it be just for the final that is proctored, or multiple exams per class? They offer some classes that would be nice to get out of the way and complete on my own time.

I took mine at work which is a university and I had a faculty proctor it

I'm not sure exactly how it works but I spoke to them because I'm planning on taking 2 courses thru the Extension program and yes, they definitely have sites in LA. And for Immunology at least, it's just 1 Final where you have to go and take a proctored test.

You guys think its a good idea to take courses through UCLA extension. I have completed 58 graduate credits and have maintained 3.57 GPA. All my graduate courses are done at a unviversity. So far no acceptances yet so I am planning to take more courses through extension. I might have to file a petition to take DAT fourth time and get ready for third cycle.
