Same interview day as me...and I got my "high priority" letter last weekend. I actually will be up in the SF area next week, maybe I'll stop by and do some face-to-face begging. I'm kidding, if its meant to be then it will happen.

oh yeah, i do remember someone saying they were from PB on my interview day. I don't remember anything else about you.

Good detective work MM!!! What you say makes a lot of sense. We are still many of us "high priority" but it does iseem to increase our statistical chances a bit.

Just got the "high priority" letter today (interviewed in December). But I'll be withrdawing before they get a chance to put me on a real waitlist. Hope that helps you guys. Good luck! 😉

Well, I got the letter today... I'm on the high priority boat... and I have a sinking feeling

Has anyone been rejected post-interview??????

if we look at the us news stats... 532 interviewed, 248 accepted, 141 enrolled.... so 248-141=107 (people off of the waiting list that get accepted)
So, lets say that they have 141 people now... 532-141=391 (of us left in high priority limbo). 107/391x100=27%... the letter said that between 20-30% get in off of the "high priority" list.... everyone interviewed (and not yet accepted) are high priority.... 😱

SOOOOOOOO, what do you guys think.... I haven't heard of anyone being rejected post-interview.... someone said they had... but do any of you know anyone (for-sure)?

From what I understand, those who are "accepted" are those that get an acceptance, whether it be from after interviews, after being high-priority, or after being waitlisted. The number "enrolled" refers to how many people actually attend the school come fall. So, if you subtract those who are enrolled from those who are accepted, you get the number of people who turned down their acceptance, not the number of people who get accepted after being waitlisted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember the dean saying that they would be accepting more than the allotted spots for the Fall class, since it is inevitable that not everyone will choose to go there. In that case the number of people who turn down acceptances > number of people off waitlist that get accepted. Now that you've reminded me of this, my dreams of UCSF are looking not as hot.

But does anyone know the chain of events that take place once May 15 rolls around. In other words are most of us going to hear something by this date or is it going to be UCSF calling people up in August?

Clearly they have put soooo many of us on the high priority category that it is not fair to keep so many of us hopeful when there is no realistic hope. I remember that the letter did not even ask for a response like most wait lists do, it is really just a holding pattern.

Yes, you're right. They said they like to 'limit' the # of people who get on the waitlist, so there's this other thing called the hold, which essentially guarantees you nothing.

Thought I'd revive this thread for all of us still in limbo. My question is if any of you know when the committee will be meeting to rank us? In other words do you think we'll hear a decision before the May 15th deadline?

I don't have any specific information, but I did meet a Penn M1 at the Penn second look who was accepted off the UCSF "waitlist" (I assume he was referring to the HP list) before May 15 last year. Hope that helps a little.
