Hey,

Anyone going to be at UCSF for interviews in January? I got a phone call last week and was assigned a date that I can not go on (Jan 18th). Does anyone have an earlier interview date? I'm trying to buy tickets by tomorrow so any quick responses would be greatly appreciated.

secondly, can these people EVER be reached by phone? I have been trying to call for about a week and no one ever picks up. Leaving a message is a crapshoot since it seems like the voice mail is almost always full as well.

thanks -
ricegirl

I cancelled my interview there a few days ago. I think it was in mid-Jan but it had been so long since I made it that I didn't remember when I left the voice mail. I've actually had pretty good luck in reaching a person, this was the first message that I've left there. Best of luck, just keep calling them (although no one may be around with the holidays)

hey, i just got a call from ucsf, they had jan 4, 14 and 18 open, i'm going on jan 4!
i've also had luck reaching them by phone, call the number they have printed in the ada book. goodluck~!

For those of us who are still waiting for a reply from UCSF, they said that the admissions committee haven't met yet for the second round of acceptance letters. The good news is that they will definitely meet before Jan. 15th. Hopefully, we will receive something before the 15th!!!!

StarGirl,

I interviewed last month. Don't lose hope yet. Since you just turned in your stuff, it'll take about 1-2 months for them to contact you. You should receive a letter confirming that your application is complete and then you will get an invitation for an interview. Good luck!

Hey folks,

I called UCSF and spoke with Barbara Richardson on Thurs. She said the committee will be meeting both today (friday) and again late next week...anyone who's already interviewed there and still waiting to hear (like me!) will be sent something in the mail either at the end of today's meeting or next week's. She specifically said that whether you've been admitted, waitlisted, or rejected, you WILL hear either way with these mailings.....still got those fingers crossed! :D

hey ricegirl,

did you get a chance to check out the clinic area after your interview? what did you think? i asked a couple of students why they chose ucsf...and it seemed like the basic consensus was that they just liked living in sf!

i thought i was 99% sure that ucla would be the choice for me, but after a really good experience at ucsf...i'm back to being 50/50 between ucla and ucsf... =P

how is everyone else deciding??????

Hey Guys,
This thread caught my eye and just had to ask you UCSF hopefuls a quick question. Me, I will be applying to Dental School this June and I am very interested in going to UCSF. Finally, my question to all of those who have recieved an interview from UCSF dental school is: What were your stats (gpa, dat, extracurricular's)??? Any and all replies are appreciated. :) :)

Hi Wasabi,
I thought I was 100% UCLA as well when I was applying this summer. But I, too, had a good experience at UCSF and thus I was torn between the two schools. I got accepted to both schools in December, and had to make a decision by the 15th of this month. So after much debate, I will be going to UCSF next year. I went to visit the school today, and everytime I'm there, I just LOVE it! And the students seem to like it there as well. Good luck with your decision!

hi lin,

wow~ you've made your final decision already? i wish i could be in your shoes! ;) do tell, how did you make the switch from ucla to ucsf? what were the deciding factors? is there really any outstanding difference between the schools besides the cities that they are in? what did you do to help you come to your final decision? as you can tell, i'm desperately trying to grasp some clue as to which is the ideal school to attend. your advice will be greatly appreciated! :D

wasabi.... :)

hey, good to see you again. i did go back to the clinic but everyone was actually really busy at the time so i didn't think it would be a good time to pepper them with my questions. the clinic was nice as well... so i don't know what i am doing, either. i think i am driving myself crazy thinking about all of these issues (plus more) but now I'm in los angeles so I think I'm going to start talking about how much I like ucla again. ;) you know how it is.

Lin...congrats on deciding on 'SF! You must be so relieved....

ricegirl....sounds like you're still torn as ever! I've decided to choose UNC over ucla...'LA would be fun, but this is the smarter choice for me now (academically and financially), and I'm really happy with it, glad to have that stress behind me. BUT, I still haven't heard back from 'sf...if I get in, there's a greater than 50% chance I'll go there over unc...but right now, I'm not thinking about that.

anyway, good luck and keep us updated... :)

waiting,

so you made your decision -- congrats!!! :) :) :) tell me - how did you do it? and would you def go to sf?
