You know, just thought I'd let you all know, since I know people here are curious. This is on the east coast by snail mail, too, so everybody gets to play this fun game!

Thank you, that's very nice of you, and I hope you end up not having a reason to be afraid of any UCSF mail you get this year. I don't think they're emailing anything, though (in regard to your post after the one I'm replying to right now).

Well, I had a Sept interview with no word in the Dec or Jan round of acceptances - I've come to the point where I'm fearing the worst.

But I think I'm ok with it. While it would be swell, I have gotten more good news in this process than I originally thought I would. I am going to med school next year & I have the option to stay in California (my 2 goals when this started).

Good luck to all those waiting for UCSF and any other schools you're dreaming of....

I don't know about UCSF, but I think with almost any school a high priority waitlist is just a deferred acceptance...

Why do you say this? Do you mean that if you're high priority, you're at the top of the waitlist and if the waitlist moves you'll be the first ones in?

Thanks for the encouragement. I don't know if it's the same thing, but it doesn't seem like the "Highly Desirable" U Mich applicants all get in though.

Yeah, I was rejected as well. A double 'IN MY FACE' since the letters were printed on my birthday. Very thoughtful of them. Oh well, I am happy with my other choice and this just makes my decision that much easier.

Well, nothing but another credit card thingy in the mail - wondering if they sent out a batch or like some Th, some Fri, some will go Mon, etc. When were they postmarked? Did everyone get them today? Sometimes my mail is slow....

Earlier today(before surfing SDN) I checked my mail and luckily for me, got a bunch of junk. And then I see this thread and it gets me nervous. 😳

I'm in SF so I think these letters, if I'm to receive them, would've been here by now. I interviewed 12/11; having found out about a guy that interviewed 12/18 being accepted from the other thread makes me paranoid. Altho I do know others have also been waiting. (swtiepie711 ) Been lurking for a while.

Hopefully the bad/not so great news are sent in a batch just like the good news. 😳

Check my edit in the first post. My letter was dated 1/29, the postmark was 1/30, and I received it 2/3, if you are really intent on doing the forensic analysis of this mailing.

hey, people with high priority waitlist, when did u guys interview? it seems to me like the letters ur recieving are merely to hold you off until interview season is over and that ur not actually on any "waitlist." Since they accept only a small fraction of interviewees every month and still have nearly half of their acceptances to give out by the end of the interview season, ur high priority waitlist may just be to notify you of something/to keep u updated rather than a waitlist.

I actually was over it pretty quick. I think it is just the fact that it is a rejection from anywhere that kinda sucked. It's all right though. Seriously makes my decision way easier. It would have been tough otherwise. Good luck to everyone!!!

Interviewed 12/14, havent checked the mail yet today (still at work...). Come on high priority waitlist! I figured thats the best I can hope for at this point... 😳

No, KaraKiz, hope for an acceptance from the next meeting or two! I interviewed almost 5 months ago, and I haven't heard anything. I was certain I was going to be in the first group of rejection & high priority letters, but since I haven't received anything I have renewed hope that maybe, just maybe, my interviewers missed the first couple meetings. Maybe wishful thinking, but don't give up just yet! Keep that positive energy up & maybe something positive will come your way 🙂

You know, I think you can consider no news good news- at least in the sense that your committee hasn't met. It seems like you would have heard by now. So... as much as the waiting sucks, its seems like all bets are still open.
