Would it be stupid to go to UCSF if I want to do a 6-year MD/DDS OMFS program? Or would it be fine if I just work hard?

Is there a difference in curriculum or free time to be able to do research/study for CBSE between the two schools?

I'm not sure how the grading system works at Columbia, but it makes it hard to specialize in OMFS at UCSF because of their P/NP system.

Columbia is H/P/F. Normally schools that are P/F have good specialization rates. What makes you say that?

I'd take anything you read with a grain of salt. Both schools are great, expensive, and will make you work hard. I don't know UCSF's numbers, but Columbia gets a lot of matches each year for OMFS, around 20% (!) of the class of 2017 matched into OMFS this year. If you're interested in research, look up what each school is doing specifically and see if you'd be interested in participating in that. If you don't care about research, pick whichever location you'll like better. I'd pick NYC over SF any day 😛

Exactly!^^ Both are really great schools and will push you to do your best! If you have any questions about the program's ask them or look online. Both schools will give you a competitive education for OMFS. Be weary of cost tho... SF is soooooooooooo expensive to live in. 😉 Same with NYC but it seems more manageable. None of us can tell you which school is better. It's your own personal preference

Hope this helps! 🙂
