I think there is no post about this topic before, maybe not, or probably this topic is not popular ...

anyway, got accepted by UCSF, UPenn and BU, and in the process of selecting one of them.

I really want to know you guys' suggestions and thinkings, if you were in the same situation. And I also promise you, I will make a decision ASAP and let you know it.

Probably you will say that it depends on which place you want to go, or selecting the cheaper one. Money IS an issue, but here I do not think there is too much difference between these two.

what do you think about their academic and clinic parts? and how about the prospective career development in these two areas?

    Appreciate it!

    From what I know:
    Academics and coursework: UPenn>UCSF>BU
    Clinical: UCSF>UPenn>BU
Social: BU>UPenn>UCSF if you are from India/China, if from other then reverse it
Prospects: Dentists earn more in CA. If the cost of education is same/similar, then UCSF is better as one will have more contacts there already
I would prefer UCSF (overall: education+weather+life/future prospects in general) :)

This sounds interesting. What do you mean by social? You mean the social life the student might develop at school? Why that particular order for India and China and reverse for other countries?
    I'm eager to know. :)

    Hi, Toothavenue,

thanks for your summary as well as side-by-side comparisons between these 2 great schools which make me feel hard in making decision.

As I promised before, I will inform the Schools on my decision ASAP, so that other applicant in waiting list still can have a chance to get in.

since i am really new the specialty program, could you please also introduce something related to matched/unmatched stuffs in application?

regarding Ray's ranking in academic, clinic and social aspects, I also wanna to know the details.

many thanks to all the posts!

    Noted. Sorry for the typo.

At this point, all I need is to stay away from Java and sleep.

    hi ray,
let me correct u, dentist dont earn more in california with the fact of number of dentist in california. there r aronud 25,000 dentists in california. my senior who recently got job cleared the picture more about the earnings in california.bcoz of bench test and number of dental schools in state ,there is no shortage of dentists.
first thing the counsellor will tell u abt dentists job is "leave california, if u want to earn more".
