Hi, I recently got accepted into the 7-yeard DDS at UDM and i was wondering if anyone had any feedback/reviews.
I've heard so many numbers in terms of how many they accept but at orientation I noticed ALOT of students (even if some are on the waiting list). I'm just looking for some general experience/feedback from this program. However, they did say that they expanded the dental school and therefore could accept more 7years. I just don't want to get myself into a weeder program, where 3/4 of us will be kicked out.
Any responses?

there's no such thing as a weeder dental school. once you're in, do your part and you'll graduate. this isn't like college.... they'll do everything to make sure that everyone graduates

just make sure you maintain the program requirements in the 3 undergrad years and you'll be fine.

we are a class of 96 and I believe 7 of them were directly from UDM's 7-year program. All I hear is good things, you are VERY fortune to be in this program, congrats

Me too! I've heard such good things about the program, so I couldn't help but find it strange when i saw about forty 7years at orientation. Perhaps some are on waiting list as i anticipated. Any comments about the GPA requirements. You need to maintain a 3.5 in sciences and a 3.6 overall...which sounds VERY intense.

I was more referring to the undergraduate component of the program....weeding out people with the GPA requirement so only a certain number can advance to the actual dental school.

I don't know much of the details... I do know that the 3 years you spend in undergrad are vigorous, you will be required to work hard and I think the minimum DAT score you must get is 19 (plz double check this).

You may start off with 40 people, but, maybe only 5-10 will make it through (its not an easy program)

Yes, it is a 19, which I've heard is difficult but do-able. And yes i spoke with a DS1 and she said out of 28 kids in her class only 11 transitioned to corktown. I'm willing to put in the work, so we'll see! Thanks for your post...this definitely helped calm some of my nerves!
