So I just got my UF interview invite (yay!) however it's for St. Pete! I'm a current UF student so I reside in Gainesville so I REALLY wanted to go to the gaineville campus. I ranked it as number one (even ranked st. pete last... ). I have to do an appeal; does anyone have any experience with this?

I've penned a rough draft touching upon how it's basically my home now (after 5 years) how it's close proximity to my family; and how it's much cheaper cost of living than st. pete. Any other advice?

are you sure it's for the St. Pete campus? Or is your interview just at that campus?

No unfortuantely if i accept the invite in st pete then i have to attend the st. pete campus for school.

You should have begged for it In the supplemental.

unfortunately I wasn't aware of this. I listed a few sentences on why it was my top choice. My appeal was naerly a page long (type) however and hopefully it will convey to them why it's my number one choice 🙁.

Hopefully it works out for you. I know someone who was in your same situation but had an invite for jax and the appeal was unsuccessful. They give precedence if you are married/have kids/ own a home. Etc

I recommend you have a strong point behind your appeal. They probably gave you the interview at St. Pete because you are from there (might have seen your permanent address if you out the st. pete address) and as jibby321 said, they give precedence to personal reasons like family or home. Do you have a job in gainesville? some type of research connections? housing plans? those might justify why you want to stay in Gainesville.

I actually have no ties to ST. Pete at all! No family, no prior experience living there. And it's even further away from my family. I mentioned how my gradnmother was sick and how gville was only a n hour from her and st. pete was 2.5. and how i'd become an integral part of the gainesville volunteer community via participating in relay for life and other service related events. hopefully this will be enough to persuade them.

Oh wow I read your initial post wrong for some reason must of been tired. Did you mention your grandmother in the supplemental application? If no maybe that is why they did not assign you to gainesville. Hopefully they listen to your case and work with you to help you resolve it. I have an interview coming up soon as well, what are you doing to prepare if you don't mind me asking?

You don't need to do much to prepare. If you have an interview as long as you don't act a fool you are in.

Really? I know the interview is supposed to be short (around 10 minutes) but I still want to be prepared.
For real. Just answer what they ask and you will be fine. PM me if you have any other questions. Also what campus?

Jibby is right. I'm honestly not doing much to prepare. My friends have had interviews and they're only 10-15 minutes and only ask basic personal questions about your character, study habits, how you desal with stress/changes. Nothing too in depth about pharmacy profession medical ethics or anything crazy like that.

sorry to steal your post, but what is going on with this school? I applied to UF back in October and am still the getting "we are still reviewing your application" email. I listed St. Pete as my 1st choice, have a 99% composite PCAT, 3.7 GPA, research experience, work as a pharmacy tech, have a bachelor's degree, and leadership and volunteer experience. I thought I was good enough to at least get an interview by now...

Are you out of state? Contact admissions see what's going on.

Yes I am out of state. I'm honestly not worried about it--I already accepted an offer from UNC Chapel Hill (my top choice). I am just being bitter that I couldn't explore all of my options before making a decision about school. They lost a great candidate, and lost major $$$ for not taking this out of state student!!! I have family in Florida too so it might have swayed my choice if they had at least let me interview.

That's the only reason why I could think they are being so slow. You def have the stats for an OOS seat. The few that there are. I don't know anyone who is OOS that I interact with daily. But i think you would have like UF as a chiice ST pete is a great area. I had my interview offer in Jan but my interview wasnt until april. So its possible you could still hear drom them. UNC is a great school too and congrats on that. And if you are in state in NC it seems that would be a no brainer.
