This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the interview invitation through e-mail today. i turned in my application on Jan. 16.

For those who have an interview invite....How do the interview invites come mail, e-mail or both? Also, how long did you wait from the time they received your application to your interview invite?

anyone knows how many students UH interviewing this year? and how many students they will accept?

Thanks.

i got my interview for march 19th. is anyone going from austin to houston for that one? maybe we can go together =)

i am going from Austin too. maybe we can meet up? Maybe we saw each other in class already, just don't know it.

What time is your interview. Mine is 8:15 am... I am probably going to fly to Houston from Austin, because I don't have a car. I'll probably be staying in a hotel or something, I really have no idea yet! How are you getting there?

kp05 and utprepharmacy, lets meet up and talk about this! will you guys be on campus (UT) tomorrow?

my interview is for 9am

Rxbusybee, kp05, i think we all have the interview at the same time. i will be on campus tomorrow the whole day, i will be free after 3:30pm. maybe we can meet up sometime tomorrow at PCL?

I live on campus (Jester) and I'm free anytime after 2.. so maybe we can set something up. Should we message each other with our contact info? I'm new to this.. I don't know how to send a private message. *shrug*

hah jester is great. every bit of fruit you ever saw in my dorm(simpkins) came from there. all you care to eat indeed.

Anyway, does anyone know if UH sends out e-mails saying you're rejected. I would rather know I've been rejected sooner rather than later.

Only those people who got accepted get an email from UH. Then, they receive their actual acceptance letter later than the people who either got rejected or tabled. In the case of first round interviewees, those who got accepted received an email on Wednesday and the other people got their letter the following day. Those who got accepted only got their personalized acceptance letter in the mail yesterday.

Hey i got an interview on the 19th also!! i am so excited!! i thought it was weird that i got mine this morning tho, when yall got it yesterday..!

Ethyl Methyl, do you know how many students UH interviewing, and how many students they will accept this year? Thanks.

Hello, classmate!!!!!!! Yes, you read that right 😀. I got an email, too! I'm so happy I can't even contain myself!!!!!!!!
:biglove::biglove:😀😀:banana::banana:

Ethyl Methyl, do you know how many students UH interviewing, and how many students they will accept this year? Thanks.

According to current UH pharmacy students, there are going to be 8-9 rounds of interview with 30 interviewees for each round. I would say they will probably interview 240-270 people, possibly 300. Out of those, they will accept 125 students.

So if there are 8-9 rounds, do you know approximately how many rounds are left? Am I correct in saying that there are/were interviews on Jan 25th, Feb 22nd, 29th, and March 7th? So does that mean about 5 more rounds left? Thanks in advance for any response!

there is one round in March 19 too.

Im pretty sure there is no May interview. they sent out all the final rejection letters around may 1st last year. I know I got one, But Im in now😀.

Jeez you guys are really bumming me out. I havent heard back from UH at all yet and I got everything in by October including LORs & pcat score. I did get an interview at Kingsville, but I don't want my dreams riding on just one interview. Im not understanding whats going on here. My gpa is mediocre but my PCAT is really good and so are my letter of recs and experience. How many interviews are left for me to have a shot at this school?

I know pharmdiva has like 3ish GPA and a 90+ pcat and she is still waiting as far as I know.

My advice is to be patient as there are still 4 or 5 interview dates left.

I am right there with the bench warmers. I sent my stuff early Jan, averge Pcat and average gpa. good LOR's and exp.
still waiting too. I havent heard from any schools yet. so for the ones that do get interviews, be happy. for those who havent, keep your heads up!
good luck to all of us..

Don't get me wrong, I really am grateful that I get the opportunity for an interview, but I'd feel more comfortable if I had 1 more interview elsewhere to increase my chances.

🙂 just keep your head up and focus your all on that kingsville interview. One good way you can think about it is that you have all your time to concentrate and do your best for kingsville and not be distracted by other interviews yet.
Interview invites always come when you least expect it (at least for me) 🙂

glgl:luck:

I know how you feel! I finished mine towards the end of November. I'm a reapplicant. Does anyone know if UH waits to interview reapplicants until the very end?

My situation is similar to yours. I have a great PCAT with a mediocre gpa, and I sent my application in in October. Still no response yet. Hang in there. It's not truly over until you get a rejection letter in the mail.

be blessed

So for those that do not even get an invite for an interview, they receive a rejection letter? Or is it only for those who actually get an interview and are not accepted? I just wanted to know b/c I have not heard anything from UH either, and I just want to know something. Thanks in advance for your response!

........and back to the top of the first page

anybody with any current news from UH?
I havent heard any new invites or accepted students?

did they really only accept 2 people so far? that's interesting..

I am really suprized that no one from the 22nd interview posted how their interview went. I swear I saw someone on hear that had there interview that day.

I seem to remember a similar question from last year, so you might try a search. Also, I think partykiki may be a reapplicant as well. But i could be dead wrong about that. If all else fails, do not be afraid to contact somone at the COP. They want you to be assertive, trust me.

Last year only 15 - 20 people posted their acceptances. I can't remember the exact number. So, that means about 12 - 22% (sorry no calculator handy). If the numbers hold true this year.... I'll let you do the math. I need to get back to studying. Good luck.:luck:

Hello,

I also interviewed on Jan 25th and got my acceptance letter about 2 weeks ago but I was so sick I couldn't celebrate 🙁, but I'm better now 🙂
As far as how the interview went I didn't think I did that well to be honest (didn't answer a question at all!) but apparently I was just being hard on myself because I got in! I think the group project was really good and I really liked my essay so maybe those were my saving grace.
Overall it wasn't a stressful process and everyone was so nice!
Well Good Luck to everyone still waiting, I hope to see you all in August 👍

Congratulations! Hope to meet you in August. BTW, what state does CS stand for? Just curious.🙂

It might stand for College Station and not a state at all.

Hope to see you in August as well.

Oh, okay. 😀 I was rocking my brain for that one! Thanks!

does anyone know if people cancel interviews, do they give the slot to someone else, or do they just keep the waiters until the end like they planned?
anyone with past experience, is march a big month for interview letters, or does the bulk go out in Feb?

it might pick up tomorrow after interviews. I hope some people have some use info to share.
Good luck to everone going tomorrow!
if you get a chance, mention to them to send out more invites to the dallas area! lol, thanks....

i got to UH right now... I have my interview on the 19th during my spring break 🙂 it SHOULD give me enough time to prepare but we shall see. i hope to be like many of you soon and get accepted =) i just hope the 19th isn't too late for an interview 🙁 that would kinda sorta suck really bad lol

That is pretty good to have a 42% - 49% chance of acceptance rate if you get an interview. Therefore hmm, the odds in favor of being accepted after an interview is 17:3😀

How did you come up with that number? 125 interviewees accepted to 175 interviewees rejected hmmm.... looks like 5:7 to me. Care to show your math?

BTW, UH does not rely solely on numbers to accept or reject applicants. I've heard of people being rejected in the past with a 3.9 GPA and 90s PCAT. Of course, they've accepted people with lower stats than those.

I'm hoping that it is because it was apparent that they were doing something like applying to pharmacy school just as a backup. Or maybe they had a total lack of experience.

There's nothing adcoms hate more than seeing people "strut their stuff" in the interview because they think they are a shoe in because of their stats. Confidence is key but being cocky is a killer.

Your previous post said they will interview 240-270 people the mean of that is 255. You said they accept 125 out of that average.

That is how i came up with that number statistically speaking.
