One of the best?? Guess depends what you mean by best. It was one of the first well established ortho residency programs. Long history with well know alumni. Well known program in the academic arena....

Assume they would at least teach Bioprogressive, a straight wire variation. Large attending staff so, I'm sure there's a multitude of philosophies/techniques.

That was a big help. Thank you very much! 🙂

Usually, if I have nothing to say about a thread I remain silent. But, since you're encouraging any type of post I'll submit this one. I don't know much about UIC. I met people on the interview trail who interviewed there, but don't remember much. Best of luck.

Who knows which school is the best? Years ago we all wanted to know which colleges were the best. Then, which dental schools? Finally, which ortho programs? All the programs are good for certain things. No one school is the best for most or all factors. Get used to that.

And ortho is so competitive and political that you're fortunate to be in somewhere. Not all can go to the supposed #1 (or imagined "top ten") school. As a practical matter, there are not enough spots for the outstanding students determined to go to the "best" school. You just make the most of your time wherever you end up.

A little more commentary on the "one-of-the-best-schools" question.

Right now, I'm thinking of three schools that could be considered among the "best" in the country (in my opinion). However, each of these three programs failed to match all their positions (some had more than one spot vacant) w/in the last few years.

Why did that happen? Who knows?! Even the supposed "best" schools have their problems, and from time to time aren't considered the most desirable by those interviewing. The bottom line is: just get in somewhere. That is the best place for you.
