I've been accepted to four schools so far, Lecom-B is my top choice right now. I'm still waiting to hear from NSU in Ft Lauderdale, and I wanted to hear from UIC too. So Lecom-B, UIC, and NSU are my top 3. I interviewed at Midwestern CCP and did not like it at all. If I get accepted there it's not going to be an option for me.

Just curious, what didn't you like about Midwestern CCP?

Just curious, what didn't you like about Midwestern CCP?

There were a few things that left me with a bad impression.

1. When the dean came into talk with us, she didn't know the name of the pharmacy admissions person...this was odd. She also didn't know one of the teachers who was interviewing us had gotten married...over a year ago. This may sound dumb, but it gave me the impression that the faculty is not well connected.

2. During my interview, one of my interviewers could care less about being there. He was looking out the window, doodling, and made me feel very uncomfortable. During our lunch, others had the same complaint about this interviewer. I think somebody even complained to the faculty about him. I spoke to a girl that I go to school with who interviewed a month before me, and she had the same guy, and said he did the same exact things during her interview.

3. I didn't really like the campus too much. Reminded me of the community college I went two a year ago.

4. I don't like how the curriculum is set up in quarters.

-All of my reasons may be a bit trivial, but it was enough to make me feel very uncomfortable with the thought of going there after my interview. I think the class size is a bit large too...over 200 students. I like a smaller class size with more teacher-student interaction.

The college was cleaned up by spring break of last year. Currently, they are replacing the escalators on the 2-5 floors. The college is in the best physical shape it has been in for years.

Hello all!!! I'm new to the network. I got an invite from UIC today as well. Does anyone someone who interviewed with them last year and how was it? Also, I sent in my supp for CCP in December and haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone else waited that long??

i got an invite for an interview too. yay! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time....

I sent my supplemental into CCP mid-January and I got an invite about a week later.

you've got lots of options, Lance.
I am also waiting to hear from CCP, but I prefer Ohio state over ccp, and maybe uic over ohio state. ccp wasnt bad though, I like their campus but cost is high. 27k per year vs. 16k at uic.
Anyone know about how the fire at UIC was resolved? Is it all remodeled now or still busted up?
I can't detect any hint of a past fire, except that a lot of stuff looks new and many walls look freshly painted. Definitely take UIC over ohio.

yay, i also got an interview offer. i really didnt i would get one since my pcat score was very average (52-54) and my gpa isn't that high either.
but i am very grateful to even get an offer.

uic is def my #1 choice!

anyway good luck to everyone else =)

Does anyone know how heavy they weight school activities and community service? The only things i had to put on my apps is that i volunteer entertaining mentally handicapped adults (my mom works with them at a center and i help take them to the the library and bowling and stuff), and that i volunteered coaching my lil sister's cheerleading team......is that lame, are they going to peg me as the cheerleader type?

I tried to explain that because I am from a low-income family i have to work a lot.....a lot a lot. So i'm hoping they will understand. What do you guys think?...........👍 or 👎

Are you saying you were offered an interview at UIC COP with a PCAT score of 54 and let's assume, a GPA of 3.0?

For those of you who got an interview invitation for UIC's pharm school:
1. Did u guys email back saying you wanted the interview? and if you did then did you get any e-mails back confirming that email (im a lil paranoid so i wanna make sure they got my email but i dont want to annoy them....)
and
2. Did UIC cash your application fee check yet?? I keep checking my account and I'm a lil annoyed that they didnt cash my check yet. Is it because i turned in my application on Jan. 12th?

Can't wait til the interview 😀

I emailed them back, but they didn't email me back yet either. They are probably a little swamped with emails at the moment. Just sit pretty for a little while.

My check was cashed on 2/9...I sent mine in Jan 2nd-ish.

I think we're all in the same boat and that all of us who did get an interview havent heard back with a final interview date just yet...

and also my check was cashed on the 3rd of this month and i sent my app in on jan 7th. if u got an interview i'm sure the supp app money shouldnt be a big deal, i'm sure they'll get around to it when they can.

I got rejected by UIC 🙁
probably because im out of state? are you guys all in-state?

Yeah I got an interview and i am in-state. I have heard that UIC reserves 10 seats for NIU, and 15 for out of state, the rest are instate and they mostly accept from UIC and U of I. . . . . . this is only what i have heard from other students though

For those of you that applied to Chicago state, did you send 3 LOR's???? I didn't realize they wanted 3 til after i submitted my pharmcas app. I have been trying to contact them for weeks.......i emailed once and left two messages. No one will reply!!!😡 How unproffesional. i guess if i don't get considered i will consider the $50 they took from me as a donation to their crappy school and stupid faculty.

I don't understand how i could get invites from Minnesota and Michigan and not one from UIC?? What are they looking for, because honestly i have no idea? I'm making an appt to speak with them in may to discuss this.

Going out-of-state for four years --I miss chicago, but apparently, chicago doesn't miss me =(

i think a lot has to do with being instate or not. having only 15 seats for out-of-state students is a really small number compared to the 120-130 that get to come from In-state. Being from Illinois gives you an huge adv

yeah, except i'm in-state.

From what i hear, 1500 applied and 350 got invites. That's about a 20% chance of getting an invite!

It's not just the fact that you can claim you are from Illinois... they give a huge weight to Illinois STATE, PUBLIC schools, seeing as UIC is one of them.

I spoke with one of the admissions administrators on several occasions because there were some issues with a credit for a past class.... she told me it will take a few weeks for them to reply back with a definite date for the interview...so everyone sit tight

athena09......where did you hear that they were interviewing 350 this year........i thought it was 300.

Well let me say something
I went to UIC as an undergrade and recieved my B.S in Biology last summer and i am an instate student. I didn't even bother applying for UIC because its a public school (they recieve tons of applications every year) and they only accept the most competitive ones out of them...they look for 3.8 and 3.7 GPA plus a high PCAT score. If you have a 3.3 or 3.4 and an average PCAT score, you must be lucky to get in, very little chance.
I applied for out-of-state and got accepted.
On the other hand, i heard about a couple cases where GPA was around 3.2 and 40s in PCAT and they got in. very rare.

Stop raining on pple's parades because they got an interview! Congrats ladyxyen. The fact that you got an interview shows that there is something on your application that goes beyond grades and standardized tests. Good luck on the interview! 🙂

For those of you who received the interview offer, did anyone get an e-mail from UIC admissions office saying that they have not received any response from you? I have sent my reply to Paula Fleming at [email protected] last week but still got the message. Now I am worried....

Thanks PharmKid23. I do feel really really lucky!! hehe.

I really don't think gpa and pcat scores are the only things they look at. be optimistic =)

I have an interview with SIU Edwardsville on March 27th. Should I send an email to UIC requesting my interview with them NOT to be on the 27th? Or will they talk to us about setting up the interview a little later?

i would say wait until they give you the interview date. They should be sending out interview dates early march hopefully. and if it conflicts with your interview at SIUE THEN contact UIC about changing it.

i could be wrong about this... anyone else got an opinion?

i'd call them if i were you, just in case you know?

Has anyone received an actual interview date and time yet?

How important is the interview at UIC compared to overall stats (GPA, PCAT) and work experience?

i think it really depends on which school ur interviewing for. UIC is a state school but its also ranked 9th in the nation. so i think being a well rounded person is more important than just you gpa and pcat scores. I personally dont have the best pcat score (73%) or gpa (3.1), but my extra curriculars are what make me a good canidate (i think haha).

i have been lucky enough to been already accepted at NEOCOP and Midwestern CCP. I'm just hopin' UIC sees what these other schools have seen already.

so to answer your question, i think your interview prolly contributes to about 40% of why you get accepted into school. These schools want someone who's good int he classroom and out. Being a people person is just as important as a good gpa.

Anyone else notice that the last date to reply to the interview offer was February 29th? There is no Feb 29th this year.....

It was a mistake in their part (UIC). They sent an updated e-mail several days ago to let students know that the correct date was Feb 19, not Feb 29.

I didnt get that e-mail! Anyone else not get that e-mail? Could it be because I e-mailed them right away?

Yup. I talked to Ms. Fleming today and she said we should all hear about a finalized interview date either Friday or Monday.

they're conducting all their interviews within the same week so early vs. late is just a matter of a few days... shouldn't really matter that much

got the email confirming the actual date of the interview haha

thursday, march 26 and i gotta be thereeee.... at 9 am since it tells you to be there an hour n half earlier than your interview time.

how about everyone else?

Mine is on Wednesday, March 25th at 9:30 (so i gotta be there at 8:00AM)

....I thought all interviews took place on the same week (During UIC's Spring Break). How do you have yours on the 16th Silversun5?

Mine is scheduled for March 25th at 11:30 am. I was also pretty sure that all interviews were set to take place between March 23-27, so maybe there was a typo in the email they sent? Or maybe you just accidentally typed 16 instead of 26?
