The process really doesn't make any sense SMOKE! I suppose Rush is a bigger name in the medical community SMOKE! But, UIC accepts twice as many out of staters as rush, even though Rush is a private school and UIC is public! SMOKE!

Interviewing in Peoria totally screwed me over.
 
Did anyone receive their letter before Dec. 19th even though the final decision was made 12/19? Just wondering if I'm having me-specific US mail problems.
 
I'm IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after two years of seeing those skinny envelopes I finally get the big whopper from UIC 2day. WHOOOHOOOOOO. Good luck to everyone else

I interviewed in late november and got skipped over for dec meeting. My app was postponed for the following meeting. Is this bad?

I am still "in process." ugh!
 
I would guess that they are not done sending interview invites. I've seen people get them as late as March, although at that point you may be interviewing for a spot on a waitlist... which was especially the case last year as they were forced to take 333 students when they are at capacity at 300... Secondaries aren't due until Feb 1. I'm sure invites are still goin out.

As far as the status page goes... I know they were supposed to have an adcom meeting this week... Status page probably won't tell change until next week... I interviewed last thursday and was told unofficially that I should get news in two weeks. I'm afraid to call them again because I was scolded that they don't give status over the phone the last time I called. My first and only time calling =P

If anybody notices any changes in their status page please post!
 
i have been "in process" FOREVER!
 
I know realize that "process" is not the same as "progress"

they definitely are not done sending interview invites. Their Chicago class fills up my mid feb. So about half the class is not filled yet.
And you guys getting accepted this month, if I were you I would send my "site preference" postcard via overnight mail!! just to make sure I get Chicago. Luckily I already have chicago site so no worries.
 
my status page changed - says that a 'final decisions has been made as of 1/20/06' - i thought they made a final decision when they sent that big envelope to me earlier this week...

Holy crapola. My status changed as well. I was just filling out some final secondaries for other schools and planning to retake the mcat. Just in case. Now, I don't know what to do.

What does this change of status mean? Has anyone got rejected that had this status change?

Anyone?
 
If you've interviewed already, chances are that its good news!

I'm sticking with Chicago, so i guess I'll see you there! Its not worth the headache to switch into Rockford.
 
I too had the status page changed to final decision made 1-20-06.... Does anybody know when these envelopes went into the mail? I'm near chicago so I should get it quickly. Lets hope good news for all.

When did you interview at UIC ? just curious...I interviewed on December 21st...or was it 20th hmmm....i forgot. But it was around then.

btw if it says a final decision was made today (20th Jan), I'm guessing they will mail your letter today so it should get to you by Monday since you are in Chicago also.
 
I interviewed last Thursday, the 12th. I hope it gets here soon. I'll be (not-so)patiently waiting for the mail for the next few days.

Did ur page change? I interviewed on Dec. 23 and mine didn't. Even though they guarranteed us that we would be reviewed in January and one of my interviewers actually told me that I would get in.....guess he lied....

naw, my page has not changed either...still says "application is in progress". So I dunno wtf is going on.

I did call the office about a week ago and they said that my file will be up for review in the january committee meeting sometime in mid-jan (He refused to disclose the date on which they are supposed to meet but he told me that they only meet once a month...those bastards) so I should hear back from them before the end of jan.

I am sure the same goes for you since you interviewed a couple days after me.

yeah originally...now I'm living and working in NJ. But more than anything I want to move back to chi town but that all depends on UIC...

I was thinking about calling and just asking if they actually were able to get to everyone who interviewed in Dec, but who knows if they would tell me anything helpful

yah...some of them can be pretty mean on the phone and god forbid if you call them on any other day of the week cept for thursday (official status check day).

You should def call the office and ask, it will put ur mind at ease.

It's funny because I've called on non-thursdays, and been told by the office to call back on thursdays for status checks as they cannot do them any other day. So when I call on a thursday they tell me we don't do status checks over the phone, but then go on ahead and do it anyway. And then there was that time when they tried their very hardest to get me to interview in peoria, even though I live in or around chicago, and they had chicago interview slots available. Three times they double checked to make sure I wasn't more interested in Peoria.

At least its consistently weird when I call.
 
I received the final decision message on 01/20/06, but up on the top right hand corner it says 01/23/06 for the additional correspondence date, which just appeared today. Anyone notice this? I called on friday and the girl said oh we have not send the them out yet. I'd tried to probe, but she said I should be receiving something. errrr
 
I interviewed on January 10 and received the same message as Pico61. Does anyone know how long it took to receive the envelope in the mail after seeing that your status had changed? Thanks.

It's binding, in the sense that it secures you a seat at UIC (if you do all the appropriate paper work, ie the site card/100 dollar deposit...)

It is not binding in the sense that it will not force you to enroll at UIC. If you have any better offers you have until May 15th to withdraw from UIC without losing your 100 dollars.

It took me about three business days although I live in the Chicago suburbs.

You will need to send back site preference card, enrollment form, and deposit. Med immunication records need to be turned in before summer.
 
Man this is depressing...If you interviewed in January how did you make it to the January AdCom meeting?? Esp when ppl like Pico interviewed in Nov and didnt even make it to the Dec meeting??? Did you guys interview at another campus besides Chicago?

i interviewed in chicago. I think that they just have alot of apps this year, so maybe they just split students up by last name or something. who knows..

I interviewed in early/mid January, but while I was there, Dr. Girotti told us we would here something before the end of the month. Who knows what their application process is like. Good luck!
 
Those of you with the final decision made 1-20-06 should be hearing something very soon. I got the big envelope today, so they must have been mailed friday afternoon. 😀

COngrats. Wow. What date did you have on the additional correspondence right corner slot? Mine says 01/23/06.
 
If it says additional corresponadance does that mean you're in? Mine also says 1/23/2006.
 
My additional correspondence is also 1/23/06. I live in Waukegan IL, which is undoubtedly the reason it came so quickly.

The rumor mill around here seems to be that if it says final decision its an acceptance, as people have gotten rejections without the status page changing. It's a struggle not to put the cart before the horse, but things look positive 👍 . Good luck and thanks for the well-wishing 🙂

how long after getting your admission packet did you guys get your school placement returned?
 
I am out in cali, how long does it take to get to cali? MAybe BerkeleyMD can answer this for me or anyone else?

I think it took a few days. Status page changed on the 19th and I got the package on a Friday (I think the 23rd).

Regarding site assignments: Does anyone know if we should see a change in our status page or any way to know when they might have mailed a decision regarding our site assignment? I'm trying to gauge when I start stalking the mail-person 😛
 
I am blanking out, does someone know if uic is pass/nopass? Have any of the 1/20 peeps outside of IL received anything yet?
 
As far as I know UIC is pass/highpass/honors. Not sure about the grades above pass, but I do know that it is NOT ABCF...
 
It took them about 10 days to return my site preference acknowledgement.
